Saw this car up close at my local Supercheap in SC livery with "Ingal" on the doors, can't believe it got repaired, I don't think it ever raced again,........ but it's still around, wow

Let's hear it for those roll - cage fabricators. Unsung heroes you hope you never need. 🤜💥🤛

At least Craig Baird has his priorities right. Screw the car and the race, at least Coulthard was able to walk away. If that crash had happened to a Sierra or Commodore or Nissan that was travelling at 270+ back in the 5 odd years after the Chase was built in 1987, the driver would have been lucky to walk way. And forget it if it was one of the old Group C cars....nothing but a bare minimum aluminum bolt on roll cage in those things.

This was one of the bigger bathurst crashes of all time,it just proves how safe these cars and the sport really is.Fatalites,thankfully are very low and even serious injuries are few and far between.The greatest race of the modern era.Although,all the safety gear in the world wouldn't have saved his undies from suSTAINing some serious damage!!!

This was one of the more serious crashes in Bathurst history, I admit that my heart was in my throat until I saw Fabian get out and take his gloves off.

i remember seeing this. we had it on silent coz mum was on the phone and i saw the first bit my dad must have blinked and i said "crash crash!" and dad's like "there's no crash" and i'm like yeah that's right there is a crash!

I knew immediately he was ok. He didn't hit anything and lost all velocity quite gradually by rolling, instead of slamming into the barriers. Those guys sit so tight in their racing chairs they can't move. Plus that rollcage barely deformed 2 inches!

This track is fantastic, if just for the fact it is one of the only hi speed tracks left with high speed 5th gear or higher corners.. =)

Very unusual for a car in the opening lap for the tyre to fail. Unless he had contact earlier in the lap or hit debris...?
@3p1c5p33d10 жыл бұрын
He did had contact at the start of the race, which obviously caused a puncture...
@DoubleWavedYellows10 жыл бұрын
Ah ok thanks.
@masto85255 жыл бұрын
@@3p1c5p33d I remember this. Didn't it come down to the contact at the start, bending/damaging the air valve of the tyre? I remembered the joke the commentators were saying "a $3.80 part killed the $500,000 car"

Sorry my bad x( . Fabian coulthard was lucky to survive a crash like that, could've been much worse. I mean he rolled over 6 times after his left rear blew when he went into the chase
