Germany: struggel to get E-Cars on the road Norway: start building charge station for E-Boat 😔

23:28 many electric ferries have a backup generator for reliability, if land change fails, they can start the generator to continue operation. Bastø Fosen are building electric for Horten-Moss, but they will need charging every arrival, and they have a generator to start if they charging fails, to continue operation, serving customers.
@thorbjrnhellehaven57663 жыл бұрын
@@Dan-fo9dk you are probably right, I just herd an interview with somone from Bastø-Fosen, but I don't remember how old that interview was. Talked about bulding their charging towers, how they wanted to keep a backup generator for reliable service. And how they changed their plans from hybrid to fully electric normal operation. And how they made their desition for economy even without goverment subsidy.

7:30 Charger spec. plate: The input to this charger is the the power net specified in the section "AC Input". The charge will use 400 V (3 phase), max 430 A. P = 400 V * sqrt(3) * 430 A = 298 kW. The AC input is transformed and converted to DC. The "Post DC output" output power 250 kW is the max that goes to the dispenser. The "DC Input/Output" 575 kW you mentioned appear to be a middle stage. I think it is for connecting a battery buffer bank. Hopwever there appear to be no battery buffer cabinets. So with 6 charger cabinets and 18 dispenser, 3 stalls will share 298 kW - charger losses (~10%) = ~270 kW, so ~90 kW per stall when used by 3 EVs.
@winkcla3 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering if that intermediate DC line might be connecting the cabinets with each other? That would mean that the total power of all cabinets could be directed to any of all stalls?

7:30 Bjorn, you're not reading/understanding the nameplate on the V3 supercharger cabinet correctly. In addition to each cabinet being able to draw power from the grid, V3 cabinets are all interconnected via a DC bus so they can share power between each other or from a connected battery system if one was installed alongside the chargers. This is how they get around the problem of sharing or splitting power and it's why it doesn't really matter which stall you plug into. Even if your cabinet is already reached the max it can draw from the grid, it can still draw power from another cabinet that has extra capacity. From the AC grid, each cabinet has a maximum continuous load of 350 kVA. On the interconnected DC bus, each cabinet can draw up to a maximum of 575 kW. That power on the DC bus is input/output at between 880-1000V. This was the section you were looking at and misinterpreting. But the power from a cabinet to a charging stall is still capped at 250 kW and is still output from 0-500V. V3 don't support 800V or 1000V charging. This is laid out in the section of the plate that is called "POST DC Output". The 1MW figure is from 4 supported stalls each with a max output of 250 kW. In practice, however, this isn't really the case. What the cabinets can support is ~325 kW draw from the grid (accounting for power factor and AC-to-DC conversion efficiency), combined with 575 kW draw from the other cabinets onsite or a connected battery system. That gives ~900 kW for continuous load. And it can probably support up to the full 1MW for short bursts by overdrawing the AC power. So, in theory, the 4 stalls connected to a single cabinet might be able to each draw 250 kW simultaneously. But in order for this to happen, there would have to be enough spare capacity on the rest of the site so that the other cabinets could export the full 575 kW to the cabinet in question.

NIO is exciting news! NIO house is more of a community centre, rather a showroom (check their website and other NIO Houses around the world). I'm not sure how we Norwegians will react to the NIO way of doing things, we are far to old fashioned in this country.. New ideas and different ways of thinking/doing things scare the majority of the common Norwegian. Just look at how most people reacted to Ev's here when they started to arrive... Also; being Chinese, NIO will undoubtedly be met with a lot of negative/suspicious comments from "Ola dunk". We've been thought that way; Chinese is bad. Kind of ridiculous, all the while we're using Chinese hardware/technology all the time in our everyday life. 😂 I welcome NIO, their fresh way of futuristic thinking is much needed. 👍

I notice the supercharger spec label still says "4 OUTPUT" at the top. The label is identical to the one I have seen in Switzerland where it's connected to 4 stalls. I wonder how they are wired internally since there's a DC Input/Ouput section saying 880-1000V and the POST DC Output section saying 0-500V Is there maybe a shared DC line between all supercharger cabinets that would allow sharing the 575kW * between all stalls?
@tydlig3 жыл бұрын
Maybe someone commented already about it, but the input voltage shows 880-1000V and output 0-500V. So thats just how this charger is constructed. Its some sort of step down conversion to the car. To say it supports future 800V systems seems to be rather optimistic since it clearly shows 500V max output.

Not sure what is the point of V3 SuC in parking garage. The car will charge so fast that doesn’t give you time to enjoy any amenities in the city. Aren’t any urban superchargers in Europe?
@francescoboselli60333 жыл бұрын
I don't know in other European countries, but here in Italy, all the supercharger are placed in the cities suburbs, some (for example the one of Brescia and Forlì) are placed in a shopping centre park, or usually in 1/2km range bu the highway junction of that city. Some instead aren't placed near big cities, but near important highway junction, like the ones of Affi and Brennero. In my opinion is also quite the risk place a supercharger underground: after all we are talking of cars that charge at 250kW/h, if something went wrong and a auto caught fire, it will be problematic to extinguish the fire

I’m not Norwegian but as I understand it, Norway is taxing fossil cars and rebating EVs. I don’t know the end result financially for the government but I would assume they must be near break even and they’re doing it for sustainability which to me makes sense. Not sure why this makes you upset. Governments around the world are starting to do this, GHG emissions must slow for us to survive, this is one way to do this.

@@peterbess9243 that it true, financially it only works until sales of EVs reach 50%, after that there is no longer sufficient revenue coming in from the taxes on fossil cars. To my knowledge Norway is the only country to reach this milestone, so the strategy should continue to work for other countries until they reach 50%. Hopefully during that time Lithium batteries come down in cost bringing them closer to par of fossil cars.
