It's kinda funny how a little computer module needs a compatment that can fit two tons of onion head. In a ship that has technology to manipulate space around it to travel 7000x light speed and in a different dimension..

Yeah it's silly. Especially the ship parking module. Our current cars can park themselves but apparently you need a huge super computer in order to do it in a space bending futuristic spaceship.. The fact that my 5 year old mid range PC from the early 21 century can parc the ship in the game, while running YT videos +20 other opened tabs, shows us that the concept is BS.

Didn't know about the auto fuel scoop. Which is cool, though I don't see much use in it. When I go to fuel scoop, I usually just go to my target distance from the star and just completely throttle down to stay there since the minimum supercruise speed is low enough that you don't have to constantly adjust to get closer or farther. It's pretty relaxing actually, to just sit there and chill next to a star.

Just so people know, it's also good for mapping out planets. You can orbit around them automatically, and aim your probes. A trick you could do is have it activated, aim your probe towards the planet, when you slow down and get close enough, shoot one at the middle, aim at all 4 edges, above the white line so it curves around the horizon. Should only shoot 5 probes, you'll get 100% mapping. Now, you'll be moving around the planet, so just select your next planet with assist most times it's right behind so you just automatically lock onto to it. Just keep your throttle in the blue, you'll never have to stop or slow down to map planets. I can scan large systems really fast doing that.

That's kind of cheesy, but if it will do the same thing when approaching signal sources at high speed then it might be worth fitting on material hunting ships, for those time sensitive HGEs that seem to always disappear when you get to within 20Mm of them because, for whatever dumb reason, the ship takes twice as long to do the last 20 Light Seconds as it does to do the first 2000. How I imagine the SCAssist/DockComp could be reworked: Every ship has a dedicated "Avionics" core slot, that can fit either of those modules, or an "Multifunction Flight Assist" module (combines both of these assists). The modules can still fit in optional S1 slots, and the Avionics variant is slightly more expensive. The assists have drawbacks, though - SCAssist is slower than top SC speed (in-game now) and if you do automatic docking (on a different button than manual docking, so you can select which one you want), you are automatically scanned.

I think one of the things that Elite needs is a gravitational field mode on the sensor suite so you can avoid gravitational wells while taking the racing line to places in a system. When the FSD is automatically adjusting speed relative to the gravitaty wells, you'd think it should be capable of rendering that on our radars in colour code or something...

Best timing= at 10 seconds go to blue zone. Then when you are at 6.5c go back to full throttle. Then at 3 seconds go back to blue, and you will exit at around 3.4c. If using a HOTAS you may miss the target because stick is not perfectly center. For this, when in blue zone, unplug the stick the zero, then after dropping out, plug stick back in.

Do you know you can fuel scoop with the thrust down to zero? Just stop the ship in a comfortable zone without much heat, be sure the numbers of the fuel scoop thing slowly decrease (that tells you that you are slowly going away from the star at minimum speed), go watch youtube and come back when you hear fuel scoop disengaged. That way you can fit a 1A fuel scoop in a big combat ship, only use it when needed and do not bore yourself into oblivion if you ever need or want to refuel at a star. For an exploration ship with a bigger fuel scoop you can jump at max speed until the last fuel star before empty, then refuel all at once watching a video and keep going instead of slowing at each star to refuel. Edit: You can also use the exploration scan with the radio thing to discover planets while fuel scooping at zero thrust, your ship does not change directions with the scan. Even if it did you are going so slow you would hear the temperature is over safe limits way before an emergency stop because of the star exclusion zone Amazing information about the supercruise emergency stop

Nah.For me the Advanced Dokcing Computer is my Hearo. It "saves" me so much time. During Launch i can go on Inara look something up then plot the rout and i still have some time left. It's the same if u request docking. I can eihter look something up, or go onto the toilet or....this module really makes it so that u use ur time more efficent during docking. Don't get me wrong i still do it sometimes myself b/c it's fun for me but i'd rather spend the time elsewhere

all we need now is a hyperspace assist

something Frontier should do is add the supercruise assist as a regular part of the ship where you can toggle it on or off, instead of taking up a single slot.

I just wish SCA was a bit smarter. Why cant it work out a parabolic trajectory between two points with an obstruction (Planet) in the way. Something we have been able to do since the 20th century, but seems to have been lost in the 33rd century.

Would be nice if it was more consistent. Half the time, it gives me no assist option even when cruising to a popular station within 500LS. Other times, I can get assist when cruising to a carrier over 4,000LS away. Seems to have no rhyme or reason.

Yeah it is, takes much of the tedium out of playing the game. All I do is put it in cruise control to the extraction site, high, low, hazardous whatever, blow shit up.. Cruise control back to base. While Im chillin I can look at my pinned engineer blueprint, check the galaxy map, vape, fix myself a drink, whatever. Also, Im with the dude that said he uses a docking computer. Really I just like the combat and cant be bothered flying the ship in any other context.

Been doing this for a while now... a few times I've passed through a station while dropping out. Let's hope it doesn't get patched out.

I slow down like normal, but once the engine tone is calm, punch it to full throttle again. Much more consistent.

Look, I can understand the anger the docking computer creates, but the super cruise assist is hands down my must have... if you think I should be forced to give 90% of my attention for 15 minutes, when I could watch a video without having to worry that I overshot

i literally just caught on to this trick as i see this video in my recommended... sc assist makes watchin videos alot easier haha.... anywho, i noticed something else with this module behavior with planetary destinations, when i disable sc assist right before it enters orbit and i go in for a glide i get a prompt for safe disengage (like u would a station) and it pops me out right at the destination, skipping the glide. Im pretty sure its a glitch cuz it does it only sometimes...

I'm fairly certain that the last trick you showed isn't intentional and now that you have put it out in the light for everyone to see, Frontier will fix it.

They must have patched it because now the only way to deactivate it is through the nav panel instead of just using the throttle.

...and it would surely be even better if you could use it while in the FSS identifying objects in the system you're exploring. It's an obvious design synergy... Well you'd think!

Why is there no keybind for it? That would make it a hell of a lot easier to actually do this

I can’t believe that FDev have put back in the old cheat from Elite 2. In that game you could just turn on time advancement to maximum and you would auto dock at the destination, no matter how fast you were travelling. It’s great to see they continuously evolve the game, removing all skill requirements with each patch.
@spartan456

To be fair, Supercruise Assist and the Automated Docking Computer/Advanced Docking Computer are not really "removing all skill requirements". More often than not, just using one of these modules can hamper a build severely. I would rather take an extra Module Reinforcement to bring my protection up to 97% than have something that automatically lets me dock or saves me an extra minute in supercruise. And this is how most people look at them too. If you have the room to spare and literally have nothing else to slap in that last slot, then Supercruise Assist would be worth it. But most of the time, you're almost always better off picking something else to stuff in there.
