When you cut them together like that it really does show off that Tyler's Clark really is dorky which is a nice side of his version of Clark Kent. I don't think any other actor who's played Superman really showed off Clark's nerdy side it's either been Clark being a bumbling mess or super serious like Superman. As one of my only nitpicks about Dean Cain's take on the character from the early 90s he didn't really separate his take on both characters.
@joaniekeyser4036 Жыл бұрын
Chris Reeve did it perfectly, too. I'd bet my next paycheck Tyler studied Chris's Superman films when he got the part so he'd be able to do the adorably dorky Clark Kent that Chris was so good at doing.

Almost every other Superman actor plays Clark Kent as an act, a mask to camouflage himself. But Tyler plays Clark & his dorky adorable side with such enthusiasm that it’s actually a true side of Clark rather than just an act. Both Clark & Superman display attributes to himself that are true but which cannot crossover into either lives.

But this show started when those kind of ended so I think they lost a bunch of viewers because of that.

It is unfortunately to blame on DC themselves. They didn’t promote the show after the pilot. And during its run, they decided to keep it on the sidelines and not let it get any sort of merchandise to accompany it, which also killed its reach to a broader audience.

What I love is that THIS is actually who Clark or Kal El really is, Superman is his serious acting persona. I can see a clearer way of contrast if Clark ever meets Bruce Wayne not as their Superhero identities but as this. I imagine Bruce being all stuck up not standing Clark thinking that the latter is acting, without him really realizing that this is who Clark really is.
@yuugael4010 Жыл бұрын
honestly really love this kind of relations in superheroes like the mundane bickering like capt, thor, and stark talking about mjolnir elevator, or batman buying the bank for supes
@EternalRoman Жыл бұрын
@@yuugael4010 That is my point, Clark for example was raised by a very good and moral couple. People that had a great heart and treated every person no matter how different with love, compassion and courtesy and they were the ones that passed on these principles to Clark not Jor El nor Lara, but Martha and Jonathan Kent. Yes, his biological parents were also good people, but they could never understand Human society, they were ALIENS only similar in appearance and morphology. So, as Kal El was brought up as Clark Kent, he grew to be as he grew, a regular guy, dorky, but well meaning and humble. Then he learned about his abilities and origin. He loves Chili Cheese Fries, he loves the rural life and hard work. He loves people and he understands the difficulty of them not having his power and the responsibility to manage who he is and what he can do. I too love the mundane regular talks and hang outs of superheroes, and I saw this first on the epilogue of the DC Comics KINGDOM COME graphic novel. Then like you said, in the ASM films and the MCU, and that is what makes these heroes relatable. And what in my opinion has made the Superman and Lois series the best Superman of them all, as good as Christopher Reeves.
@enderduck4253 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a pretty cool contrast. Clark Kent pretends to be Superman to help people while Batman pretends to be Bruce Wayne in his free time.
@EternalRoman Жыл бұрын
@@enderduck4253 I just read part of the comic where Batman was discovered about his "Contingency files" on the JL, when it was used on them. But this was a flashback because of the comic that had a robot "Failsafe" as an answer to Superman when he asked what was the contingency if Batman went out of control. On this moment when Superman asked him, he raised his voice to Batman telling him to take off the mask or he would take it off him because he wanted to talk to Bruce, not Batman. The comic deepened on Batman's psychological damage because he created "Personalities" in his mind that are basically different and alternate and spoke like a patient with a multiple personality disorder. He had to access his "Batman of Zur En Arrh" because regular Bruce was getting his butt kicked all over by the android. This Batman persona was extreme and in fact would kill and was accessed because this persona was the one that built the android. Look it up, you will like it if anything, at least for the art.

Considering this is a CW show, it has exactly ZERO business being as good as it is. The version of Clark is so goddamn good. Hes a huge dork, a good parent, but also a nice guy without being naive or corny. There's drama, but not the soap opera shit the arrowverse turned into. Right? He's not a dork when it comes to facing the bad guys or saving people. He knows when it's time to be serious. And yeah, he's a dork as Clark but even some of that he exaggerates himself when required like when he's deliberately trying to look weak when he's being pushed about as Clark as seen in towards end of these clips. One notable exception is when he, still as Clark, confronted Candice's dad in the diner, because you do NOT mess with Clark's family. That's when you get a Clark who has no time for any silliness. I like that Clark still had control. He was angry but he didn't lash out. He sternly made his point and only used his superpowers to no-sell the shove and to pin the creep onto the bar. Also loved this bit before it all: Lois: "This isn't a job for Superman" Clark: "He's not going" :)

I love that he has super speed, and still loses Rock-Paper-Scissors to Lois.

The dramatic fall is the funniest because you know that that punch didn’t actually do shit to him.

I spent the entire time going, "this man is perfect," and just staring dreamily at him with my cheek resting on my hand.

I love how Tyler Hoechlin embodies Clark Kent's dorky sense of humor.

Ubknow, i realy love this live action version of clark. He seems to me to be the closest to the Christopher reeves Clark. He's not a sullen badass like the cavil versipn ,nor is he too quickly shoved into the fray like in smallvile. This version feels really well matured while maintaining his optimistic friendly nature.

Superman should be warm, powerful, and stately. Clark should be dorky, approachable, and kind. If David Corenswet can pull that off, we might very well have our definitive on screen Kal-El

Im finally glad that we got a brilliantly portrayed Superman AND CLARK KENT from Tyler, and that they made him a geeky dork. THATS CLARK KENT BABY

Why I love him as Superman and Clark. It isn't an act. He is just a big excitable goofball.

After watching him as Derek Hale, this is straight up dorky! He’s like a mix of Scott and Stiles. 😂

I’ve never really been interested in Superman, but watching scenes from this show has made me respect him way more.

Tyler is without doubt the best live action Superman/Clark I mean we’ll see what David can do with the role in Superman Legacy but until that day comes for right now Tyler is Superman.

Always loved the contrast with Bruce Wayne; while in that case Bruce is the fake persona and Batman is his real self, *this* is Clark, the dorky farmboy.

Oh Bruce is a dork too. He is just better at hiding it.
