I don't know if someone else posted this but the reason that this Kandor doesn't carry over into other stories is because there are two different Kandors. This is the original post crisis Kandor which was apparently created by a wizard (the wiki doesn't give much details). This version of Kandor would be destroyed during Kurt Busiek's Superman run with the traditional silver age Kandor being reintroduced soon after by Geoff Johns in his Brainiac storyline.

Goodness it'd have to be heavy if/when Lyla comes back and dealing with this story in general. Not because Lois would be mad at Clark for being mind wiped into having sex with another woman, but because you're dealing with the woman who brainwash raped blinkin' Superman and stole his powers via making him think he murdered expies of his Kryptonian family. I kind of want to see that vulnerability with Lois and maybe the rest of the family supporting Clark through it since this is canon... but good gosh that's a hefty consequence for what functions as a fun story.
