Just to correct you regarding the Tyler Hoechlin black suited Superman. It was not a regenerative suit he wore this as two versions of Superman. In a crossover episode called Elseworlds; the villian John Deegan took on Supergirl's powers and wore a black suit. The second time we see Tyler wear the black suit is in an episode of Superman and Lois playing an evil version of Superman on another Earth. I would highly recommend watching Superman and Lois as you don't need to see any other Arrowverse shows to catch up. I think you will find it enjoyable to watch and will love how Tyler plays both Clark and Superman in the series.

Agreed, it's not just a great superhero show, but frankly an even better family drama. I feel the superhero elements of the story largely just serve to enhance the drama, which is honestly so moving at times. I recommend it to everyone, whether or not they even like superhero shows

The suit that Tom Welling wore in Smallville, was in fact Brandon Ruth's suit. I got that from the material included in my Smallville DVD's. Tyler is built. You would know that, if you had watched him in Teen Wolf. Good video.

I love the Corenswet suit because it's a mixture of many classic and modern elements, and the symbol on the back of the cape is so awesome and nostalgic. I also love it because it's a very unassuming kind of suit. Much like the man himself, Corenswet's suit is very humble. It doesn't try to be super luxurious or grand.

i think its doing the opposite, too over designed for the "onscreen presence", as in the aspect of suits that give a 3d detailed feel in action, its the same reason why maguires spidey suit had such big webbing on it, it needed an onscreen presence, that plus it doesnt fit well on the 6'5 giant muscle mountain david is, its too militaristic is the best way i can put it,

The rumor always was that the plan WAS for Tom Welling to appear in the superman suit at the end of the series, but he refused to wear it because of superstition as many actors who had portraid superman prior had been in accidents shortly after. Thats why they just CGI'ed Routh's suit on him

Hey Chris, for the Smallville suit, they never did the full costume because Welling never wanted to wear it. He took the job and the creators were very strict on the idea of “no tights, no flights.” Though I saw him say recently he is more willing to come back and actually wear a suit now if something came up.

You got a few things wrong with Cavill's suits! 15:50: At no point during ZSJL, was the Regeneration suit a real suit. It was ALWAYS a colour correction. And as well, maybe it's just how you define "a lot" but they only reused 2 shots in ZSJL from prior films 1. the shot from Man Of Steel which we saw during the flash forward when Darkseid puts his hand on his shoulder 2. the shot from BVS which was used during the epilogue when Superman finds the league and his eyes are red. 21:46 They did. The Black Adam suit was not a kit bash from MOS,BVS and ZSJL. No clue where you heard that - but the suit is literally just his MOS suit. He picked that cuz it meant so much to him, being the one he wore back in 2013. It only looks different cuz of the colour grading.

Superman's suit should always be simple. I'm looking forward to the new movie, and while I like how the suit looks, I could do without the MCU-style line detailing, that kind of suit design is overused in modern superhero outfits but at least it's not that obnoxious and very subtle. I always preferred the suit to be made by Mrs. Kent rather than it coming from Krypton. Maybe the naterials could be from the planet to explain how the suit barely gets damaged but just don't make it a whole armor set like New 52

Here’s the thing about the cape length on Chris Reeve’s costume. Since it sits right at the bottom of the backs of his knees and his boots are high it actually lets him look dynamic even when he’s standing still. His cape is nice and full and it billows well but it doesn’t look like it’s weighing him down. Plus it’s consistent with the length of his cape in the comics at the time in the art by guys like Curt Swan and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.

Honestly, my only problem with the Brandon Routh suit is the shade of red they used. It's very muddy, often looking straight up brown on screen. For the new James Gunn suit, I honestly don't love the logo, the suit texture, or how it fits on him. It doesn't feel as form fitting as most of the other suits on this list.

8:35 As others have said, you've got to watch Superman and Lois. I finally decided to just binge it a couple weeks ago even though I haven't seen any other CW shows (except S1 of The Flash), and just about every other episode had me legitimately emotional. It's not just a great Superman show, it's not even just a great superhero show, it's just a genuinely moving and poignant family drama that touched me on so many levels over the course of the story. I recommend it to absolutely everyone I can! I also have the controversial opinion that the suit got a big downgrade from Supergirl to Superman and Lois. The first suit's not my favorite, but I liked the cape design, and the padding in the later suits really ruined them.

Even though the Smallville suit was CG when seen from a distance, I think they nailed the design. They improved the Superman Returns suit by removing the tiny S’s from the crest, swiping the leather cape for a brighter red cloth one with the yellow S, and making the S larger on the chest. Btw the show wanted Tom to wear the suit, but he didn’t

The Superman & Lois season 3/4 suit is my favorite suit of all time… it wasn’t on the list. The muscle suit looks much better in the last two seasons. The show was nearly perfect and was the perfect modern Superman adaptation. I also adore S&L’s Fleischer suit. Every scene with that suit is perfect. “Thanks, my mom made it for me” pure Superman.

The biggest issue I have with Tyler's Superman and Lois suit is it always looks dirty and they made his muscle suit too big in my opinion. He looks skinnier wear normal clothes. Also I think he should've been clean shaven. That's just a nit-pick for me tho

I got to actually see the George Reeves second season Adventures of Superman (1954) tunic at a collectors store in Las Vegas some fifteen years ago. It was framed in glass like a picture. I couldn't take photos of it and, I think, it cost $23,000 to buy. Anyway, it was a really pale blue color and the "S" was brown. The tunic, though, had the same weave as a long underwear shirt. Really cool. Oh, and the Chris Reeve Superman suit from 1978 was on display. Colorful, looked great in person.

Pretty wild how ultimately Superman's live action suits haven't deviated too much from the source. In contrast to say Batman. I think it's easier for me to say Rouths KC suit is perfection. It's the final form of this style suit before going in a very different direction. Cavils I'd kitbash with richer colors with MOS large S and belt style. The newest suit. It reminds me of a 50's alien space man style suit that Flash Gordan might wear. The Joss Superman suit is wtf happened. Those chrome muscles just destroys the illusion for me. Tylers suit they mostly nailed down in season 4. It looks far less muscle suit like. Watch the finale and I think it works a lot more.

An honorable mention should go to the Bob Holiday suit from the Broadway musical "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman". Holiday made three filmed appearances in character. That suit belongs up there with Kirk Alyn's suit and the two George Reeves' suits from film and TV, in terms of quality and as an adaptation of the golden age Superman. Then there is the monstrosity from the 1975 made-for-TV adaptation of the musical. The suit looks like something a random Joe would wear to a costume party. It looks way too small on actor David Wilson and causes the S shield looks mis-shapened and the cape can never stay over his shoulders to save its life. The quality of both Holiday and Wilson suits are as different as night and day.

For me Dean Cain's Superman costume was straight from the 1990s comics. So it is my favorite. The worse is the Superman and Louis outfits. The muscles look very fake and hooky. I'm most impressed by the Man of Steel Cavil costume. The engineering of the costume is great, and the muscle suit actually looks like his own muscles. Justice Leagues muscles failed at that.
