The ending text comfort me in the idea that the shoot em up parts are from another game they abandonned. Still seems like a certain experience to at least try.

This Arcade game looks much better 😺👍 than the home computers from Tynesoft 😹. In fact, i had SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL for both of my Commodore 64 (tape) and Amiga 500 many years ago 😹.

Never saw this in arcades when it came out but in the early 90s i remember seeing it at a couple of places. Initial impressions were the same. Good for the first couple levels then got bored. Never spent that much time on it, just a quarter here or there while waiting to play mortal kombat 2.

Superman red and Superman blue. Silver Age reference. Shazam was still in license naming hell with the trademark Captain Marvel name issue in the '80s that Marvel owns the trademark on not Shazam the character himself.

I play this one before and while it is a good looking and sounding arcade title featuring the man of steel but man it got real tedious to hear the theme over and over lol I think the best superman game in the 16bit era imo would be the Genesis one made by Sunsoft because of its excellent soundtrack especially the stage 5 level track...

I love Taito games to death, but man, the only thing they could never nail was quality game OST / music. Some kinda catchy tunes among a few of their titles like Night Striker and Ninja Warrior, but those shrieking synths they used needed a less abrasive touch. Great memories nonetheless. :-)

Not a bad game, spent a few quarters back in the day and enjoyed it. Thing is, enemies are of little variety and very generic plus gameplay is very repetitive despite the alternation between a shooter and a beat em up.

Look up in the sky! Is it a turd? Is it a shame? It's a Superman arcade that's not that lame. Still better than Superman 64.
