Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, comic communities today treat this stuff like life or death. You're either on the "right side" of things or you're just blatantly wrong. Gonna make sure things like that won't happen here.

Yeah the thing that makes superman so different from other heroes and so hard to right is because he represents the very best of us, he is the ideals we need to strive for, we don’t relate because we too face the same struggles we look up to him for being the very best of us,

I feel like a lot of people don’t want Superman to go through struggles and doubt himself. They want to look up to him as a god who always wins and never fails. To me interesting Superman stories see Superman be put under unimaginable pressure and pain but he gets through it and manages to inspire other people to do good and be the best version of themselves they can possibly be. Superman is the most important character of all time and showing that he has the same struggles as normal people can help ground him and make his stories more interesting and impactful instead of him always coming out on top with little to no effort.

Glad I got to be featured! And you are right, no matter who wears the S, that symbol will still stand for something. PS, 12:38 is the most hilarious part of the video. And you are right, Warners is brain dead and will continue to be brain dead. No wonder the writers and actors are on strike! Maybe this is a sign that WB and Disney in their current state should leave both Marvel and DC alone.
@tyrellmultimedia Жыл бұрын
This strike is REALLY bad. This is the first time writers and actors have done a strike together in 60 years. And if the writers strike in 2008 completely derailed and outright canceled productions left and right, the question is: What is this strike (which is infinitely worse) going to do for future brands?
@brittonstegner2610 Жыл бұрын
@@tyrellmultimedia I think it will likely destroy them as one of the main things that they are striking against is the use of AI. And Disney and WBD have said that what they are asking for is outrageous. Iger and Zaslav are two of the most despicable, despisable people I have ever seen. They are the reason Hollywood is sinking like the Titanic.

to me, Superman turning evil or edgy (see Injustice as a prike example) is the single worst thing you can do to his character. to me, Superman is an embodiment of hope and compassion. the incorruptible symbol or persistence. Superman is hope. making him turn away from hope is turning away from his most basic principle it's like having Spider-man turn globetrotting, or captain america becoming fueled by anger yes, Superman can and should face despair. he should have his ideal of hope above all tested, but he should always choose to keep being that embodiment
@tyrellmultimedia2 ай бұрын
I think turning evil is his greatest fear. All his power being funneled into, anger, rage, selflessness, etc. He becomes arguably the most dangerous being in the universe and the symbol of hope or compassion has fallen. That is of course not what "canon" Superman is or who he would become, but I rather enjoy storylines like that.

Clark does become evil in an alternate dimension (I think because his mind was taken over by Zod’s father or smthn). He kills all humans, including Lois (though she was married to John Henry Irons), and the only survivors are John Henry Irons and his daughter w Lois, who travel to the main timeline and meet good Clark.

If Superman is not too powerful, to me he becomes boring. I hate when stupid writers try to make ridiculous and basic characters beat on Superman. I've never cared for the kryptonite appearing everywhere and everyone knowing about it. This stupid idea of Superman being weak to magic to me is unfathomable. Superman is a god and only gods should come near to beating or defeating him. Mere mortals, no matter how rich, should just be written as a tickle. The guy's name is Super-man for goodness sake. Guess why? He looks like a man but he is not a man. He is from a superior planet of superior beings. He is only earthbound because his planet was destroyed. His people were conquering worlds long before he arrived on Earth. There is nothing wrong with Supes being all-powerful. there is just something wrong with the people who write him trying too hard to make him human. There is only something wrong with people trying to pit basic characters against him when we know that that is ridiculous. I've only known of one human who comes close to making a dent and that's Lex. Now everyone and their granny is able to beat the guy. It pisses me off. Superman is unbeatable, unstoppable, and immortal.

Bright burn is the most fun “Superman” movie ever because of how different it is.
@josephapsey996510 ай бұрын
I personally like Man of Steel a lot (don’t think that version of Superman is right for a greater DC universe beyond a solo movie but that’s beside the point) the one thing that almost ruins the movie for me though is the Zodd scene not because Superman kills but because he does what the villain wants, if Superman is given 2 options he makes a 3rd, that’s what defines the Super in his name the ability to do what he thinks is right even when others say it’s impossible, the moment Superman loses hope of doing anything else and does what the villain wants is the moment he fails as superman for me, of course if he grows from that then nice but he doesn’t this is the climax of the movie this decision is meant to reflect his growth from his past failings in the movie, a superman who has no urgency and only does what Superman he villain forces him to do is not in my mind a good depiction of what Superman stands for, like imagine if when given the choice Supes instead says something along the he lines of no because the right thing doesn’t comprise and wins the battle somehow on his own terms, I guess what I’m saying is MoS works well as an else world like story but not a great depiction of a definitive superman

I guess this more of an unpopular request, than an unpopular opinion, but I wish superman would go back to his socialist roots. Superman, ever since his inception by jerry siegel and joel schuster, was always a social crusader. He didn't fight crime, he tackled social issues, he fought against those in power, business owners, landlords, prison wardens, he was bad for business. A champion of the oppressed fighting for the rights of the working class and an enemy of anyone who made their living by exploiting the labor of said working class. But ever since DC turned superman into a liberal and dropped his social crusades, everything that made him interesting has been lost and it's like he's become a shell of his former self. He's no longer a champion of the oppressed, he's now a champion of the system fighting against those who are a threat to it and shakes hands with ronald reagan, even though he would've been an enemy of reagan. And it is such a stab in the back to not only superman himself, but also Jerry and Joel. The only businessman superman fights in modern day is lex luthor, but lex isn't meant to embody the system, he's a liberal's idea of a bad individual using the system for his own gain, despite the fact that the very system itself is set up in such away to allow someone like lex to become who they are and shape the world in their perverse image. There have been a few writers who have tried to bring back the socialist superman like grant morrison, but it's never been able to stick. And as an anarchist myself, I can very much relate to man of steel's/batman v superman's depiction of the public reaction to superman. It's very similar to how people react to anarchists and socialists. They think we're here to destroy their way of life and are out to get them when all we're trying to do is help. We seek the same thing that superman does: Truth, justice and a better tomorrow, but there are those who don't want that tomorrow to come, whether it's the people we're trying to help or those that see the people as something they can use for their own gain.

@Ash-WinchesterАй бұрын
@@petermj1098 The original comic strips call superman a champion of the oppressed who fights for truth and justice. The american way was never a part of it. Besides, superman is not a tool of the state and he doesn't owe his allegiance to any country and he isn't a representative of any government. Superman uses his powers to help people regardless of who they are, where they're from or whether or not he has the state's permission to do so. Superman believes in truth, justice, freedom and equality. Which is the exact opposite of the american way. If superman truly fought for the american way, he'd be lex luthor.

@@Ash-Winchester Jerry Siegel was asked in an interview on camera when he was older and he literally confirms Superman stands for truth justice and the American way. @Ash-WinchesterАй бұрын
@@petermj1098 Except the american way was slapped onto superman's motto in the 40's to drum up support for world war II. Superman doesn't stand for the american way, he's opposed to the american way. Oppression, colonialism, exploitation, imperialism, nationalism, those are things that america stands for, if you honestly think superman stands for any of those things then you grossly misunderstand the character. Truth and justice has nothing to do with america.
