Dean's speech at the beginning😭 No matter how many times I hear it, it hurts ;_; John is definitely not the best father, but I do think that he acted the way that he did out of fear; not excusing his actions and behavior, just explaining why I see him as an imperfect human (like the rest of them) and not some heartless monster (as the fandom likes to portray him). In any case... what's left to worry about is Dean's demon deal. Sam will of course do anything for Dean, and vice versa. We will see what happens😟

fact of the matter is when it comes to John all you can really say concerning his parenting skills is that he tried but he didn't try hard enough. he let his obsession for hunting overpower his obligation to his family and sam and dean deserved more especially in the unstable environment they grew up in. as shown in What is and what should never be, sam and dean are really close not only because of hunting, but because all they had growing up was each other-they couldn't rely on John, so it's no wonder that Sam was always upset with him because time and time again he fell short of his parental duties. but looking at it that way can't be too mad bc it's why sam and dean love each other sm. can't imagine supernatural if they didn't

John tried hard. Just because he wasn't what Sam wanted didn't mean he wasn't what Sam needed. Sam was a selfish self involved spoiled brat who blamed John for every little thing and started a fight with John every time he was with him. Sam was the one who left for college that cut off not just John but Dean too. Sam's jealousy of Dean was sad.

@@JohnWinchester3567 leaving for college isn't selfish it's what every other kid does at his age and while I agree it hurts he left Dean, he didn't leave because of him and tbf he really didn't leave bc of John either. sam had so little control over his life and going to college with a tuition he earned through hard work all on his own was pretty much the one thing he had a say over. sam loves his family and he wanted a normal life too. the problem was John made it seem that having a normal life meant he didn't love his family or that loving his family meant he couldn't have a normal life. that's just one form of John's manipulation right there-not allowing your kids to leave and guilt tripping them into thinking they're an awful person if they do. that wasn't fair to sam or dean, but I think the difference between the two is Sam understood how wrong that ideal was whereas Dean didn't.

"Why would you play this song?"... Carry On is the unofficial theme song of the fandom for this show. They play it over the recap of every season finale. That's why. Fun fact: Jensen deliberately milked his scene where he's talking to Sam's dead body trying to see if he could make Jared laugh or visibly breathe on camera. They filmed that at 3:00 AM, with Kim Manners directing, and Jensen warned Kim ahead of time what he was going to do. So Kim just let the cameras keep rolling, no matter how long it took, figuring they could edit the footage later, if necessary. Instead, they got it done in one take...even though Jared legit started crying at how emotional Jensen was. If you watch, you can just barely see a tear track running from Jared's eye down toward his ear. Re: John - he did the best he could, and he did love the boys, but he was negligent in their care as children to the point of abuse - that's straight-up canon, as is the fact that he emotionally abused Sam for wanting to be good in school and go to college. He may also have physically abused Dean - that's unclear, but probable given certain bruises Dean shows at one point. John is pretty universally recognized as a *horrible* father.

YES DAVION!!!!! John wasn’t even a good hunter. He never worked with others and when he did he got someone killed! And he was an even worse father too! No good dad puts there kids behind revenge,your children should be your FIRST priority. Sam was and always has been dean’s first priority. This finale is great. We got Dean bringing Sam back through a deal, leaving him with one year left to live, we got thousands of demons escaping Hell, and we got Yellow Eyes finally taken down by Dean (the goat). Oh yeah, and who can forget John coming back from hell to save his kids, even if it was only for a short while? So much shit happened in this episode; Way too much to say. it's so well done for how compact it is adapting the first 2 seasons. some expanded on content as well. Jared actually voices for Sam, but Jensen could only make it to the final 2 episodes. his voice actor did very well and captured Jensen's voice. There's another way to look at the situation about John. If John chose not to hunt for yellow eyes, and instead raise his children to give them a normal life. Then John wouldn't have sold his soul to save Dean and vice versa Dean selling his for Sam.

If John hadn't chosen a life of hunting he'd still be alive BUT Sam would probably be dead, because he'd have been kidnapped by demons when he was off living with Jessica, not with his bro. And Dean wouldn't know about the supernatural, so he wouldn't know to sell his soul once Sam's body was found
