Season 9 episode 1 was the first ever episode of Supernatural that I saw on TV. Originally I wanted to watch Arrow season 3 but learned that Supernatural was on The CW. I started with S9 and then binged on Netflix while the still watching S9, then I caught up with S9 coming full circle. Now with your reactions, I have come full circle again. Just an anecdote for you :)

If you didn't catch it, I know I didn't my first time either, but when the angel asks Dean where Cass is he makes it seem like he knows to throw them off his trail even more. Even pissed Dean tries to protect Castiel
