It is funny how most of the more well-known nintendo characters are kinda dogshit in melee, while most of the top tiers are more obscure. Like imagine if Mario and Luigi switched places with Fox and Falco on the tier list, and Link switched with Marth. Melee would be perceived as a fundamentally different game.

This is a rare treat to see. I have seen Pikachu vs DK in almost every Smash game at high level except for here and Brawl. Honestly Pikachu destroys DK the majority of the time so it's nice seeing this match

I think Pikachu should still be favored on this match up by a bit, dont think Axe adapted well, edgeguards are everything, too many unsafe nairs, could has used more thunderjolts, etc. June did play amazing tho, congratz to him

As a PM player, where DK is amazing, his matchup reminds me of DK vs Meta Knight. And that matchup is honestly even at best for Meta Knight because DK can CC and grab so many openers, and the punish game is seamless. This is one of those matchups for Pika where they can do so much right and still get deleted off of one to two openings, literally every stock. And then if you die to punch he just charges another while you die off the top.

@@itsmethethingg The best thing about PM is that so many characters are viable in neutral. It really helps you practice against a ton of styles. That seems to have prepared Junebug. That's sorta what SD Remix did for Melee, but Nintendo would never permit it.

Lol I feel like he's 30-70, 40-60 and 45-55 vs every high, mid and some low tiers, with his best chances Marth and Falcon being maybe 50-50. Maybe he wins against Mario? Loser of the last game decides where to play next, and you can go back to a stage if you haven't won there yet. If Axe won any game on Battlefield he wouldn't be able to go back after that. For why he chose Battlefield I don't know, maybe he thought Dreamland or Fountain of Dreams weren't as good in the matchup

It looks horrible what do you mean lmao. DK has to win 2 - 3 neutrals for a stock and Pikachu has to win at least ten it looks like. Yeah in general Pika will win more neutral wins but CC and people mess up will make it where DK can eventually get a counter hit and just blow up the Pika. (My opinion its DK favored but I’m not sure by how much)
