I'm a five and can only be emotionally detached when it comes to how things effect me, but I can't emotionally detach from the emotions of others, at all. I'm extremely affected by the emotions of others. That's one reason why being completely alone is so nice.

While he was sharing about the 5’s strength of emotional detachment, he said that “5’s FEAR becoming enmeshed in the emotional overwhelm of others”. This has been a life challenge for me! Like you, I cannot seem to be unaffected by others emotions, even in fictional movies or books. So I tread very carefully, because messy minefields of people’s emotions are all around me! And I limit my exposure to the human race. 😜

I can almost always see what will or can go wrong with an idea or plan. This does not make one popular. And having delusional people who didn't want to listen come back to you and say, "You were right! We should have listened to you!" over and over again is no consolation whatsoever.

Other types think we are "party-poopers" because we point out flaws in plans. But for us it just feels like we're stuck in a car headed for a cliff, everyone is having a good time and are unaware of the cliff. We point it out and they get upset because we aren't just chilling and enjoying the ride and they won't look at the cliff ahead.

It’s nice to hear these traits framed as strengths for a change! I haven’t identified with a description of a five so strongly before. Patience made me laugh, thinking of how I quietly posted myself near the guy I was interested in and waited; how we became such comfortable friends for two and a half years; how we dated for two more years; and finally married 19 years ago! All because of my sheer will power to wait for him to see me, like me, fall in love with me, and ask me to marry him. I knew he was the one right from the start. ❤

This is very accurate. I’m a Five with equal 4 and 6 wings. I have an immense amount of interests that people have absolutely no idea about. I’m a commodity trader by profession, a trained classical pianist and music theorist for 35 years. I began philosophical and comparative religious and occult studies around age 15, just for fun, and have never stopped. I’m fascinated by the chemical breakdown of everyday food items and their changes under different conditions. And have just begun studying Classical French and Italian pastry. And sometimes I walk around my neighborhood with a tuning fork trying to figure out what notes of all the sounds I hear in the city. For example, what note of the scale is a car horn, a bird, or the lawnmower etc. relative to the tuning fork which is tuned to A= 432 hz (instead of the usual 440). This is just the tip of the iceberg with all of this craziness, and it NEVER stops…I need to understand Everything! I’m 49, so I’ve been doing this a long time. And most people have no idea about any of this, except my job and that I play a little piano….lol. I’ve moved toward and taken on some qualities of an Eight several years ago, and enjoy spending time with people in small groups. And it’s no longer necessary to read 10 books before I take any action (5 is enough..lol). But ages 20-40, at least for me, were all over the map, an insane emotional rollercoaster, getting down into those really unhealthy Five levels. But it did eventually all calm down and level out. Anyway very nice video.

We are cut from the same cloth, but I'm more of a jack of all trades master of none. I was a commodity trader as well until I found it too consuming. I write weekly energy market wrap sheets and consult now. Scratch golfer, former cellist, sudoku expert. I would love to walk around with tuning forks at least until I developed an ear for it. Who wouldnt want perfect pitch in their back pocket for the occasional party trick? I see patterns everywhere even in other peoples thinking. If I spend too long with someone, I start to predict their thought patterns and responses which can make me impatient in many situations. I like my alone time because I can persue my interests without the distractions of others.

Yeah I’d say we have a greater sense of attachment to our views or conceptual map but we’re simultaneously more detached or withdrawn from the world or making ourselves known.

That independent strength also means we stand firm on what we see is right or wrong based on our problem solving skills and we are not afraid to go against someone or something that others are afraid to challenge.
