When I was in high school my friend and I would spend the last few days in the art room helping clean supplies and we would use fabric softener to clean the brushes
@SuperRaedizzle4 жыл бұрын
Such a life changing tip
@pauliedoodle19394 жыл бұрын
Yeah fabric softener works fine for occasional use on synthetic brushes used for acrylic paint. I however wouldn’t use it on animal hair brushes (baby shampoo gets oil paint off those) or brushes you use for watercolour paints as the fabric softener residue repels the watercolour paint; making your brushes useless.

@@pauliedoodle1939 What would you recommend to clean watercolor brushes? Just baby shampoo or no?
@pauliedoodle19394 жыл бұрын
Nia Bothwell Just water, you shouldn’t need anything else to remove watercolour paint. If it’s particularly stubborn to remove from in between the bristles then just massage the bristles gently under a running tap until the water runs clear, then gently dry and reshape the brush with a paper towel and leave to finish air drying.

PS don’t use any water temperature over lukewarm when you’re cleaning (or soaking) paintbrushes, since anything hotter will soften the glue that holds in the bristles and make them more likely to fall out when you’re painting
@pauliedoodle19394 жыл бұрын
Celia Barbieri This is exactly what I thought about the fabric softener too, it’s going to effect the glue. Not only that, I would be interested to see how well the brushes hold paint after being in the fabric softener. I have a feeling it’s going to effect that as well.

These are useful tips that people may simply be unaware of. I’d add to use caution with the bleach and recommend great ventilation or doing so outside on a good day. I heard about the paintbrush used to blend ages ago and bough brushes I use just for that; I’d add get makeup brushes such as from the dollar store. Have one set for dry charcoal/etc. One set for watercolour paint and one for acrylic, etc. I find the techniques you get with soft makeup brushes allow amazing results! Small soft makeup brushes can very easily soften hard edges large ones can apply soft airbrush like effects. They can be used wet or dry for different effects. And used with no paint (just to soften/blend) or with paint to apply softly, etc! Yeah; I’ll add that! Fun video thanks!

OMG another Hack!!! To help with the bleaching to get more defined lines from beginning and keep areas black. You can do an at home/DIY batik dying method. All the areas you don't want getting bleached you cover paint in with Elmer's gel glue, glitter glue works too. It soaks into the fabric so the bleach/dye won't soak into those areas. The glue comes out in the wash maybe 2 depending how thick. In traditional Batik dying they use hot wax and not glue. It's like using masking fluid for water colors expect for fabric.

Honestly, to clean your brushes wicked thoroughly, The Masters Brush Cleaner and Preserver is the best thing ever. I have had brushes that were hard as a rock, and I was able to bring them back to life with it. I am a miniature model painter, so I use kolinsky sable brushes (which are crazy expensive) so I need to keep them nice, and that stuff has been a life saver. I got a 2.5oz thing of it from Dick Blick for like $7 a year ago, and I haven't even used half of it yet. (You can also get it on Amazon, but it is a little bit more expensive).

If you set up a shop or something on many different websites selling many different things, I do believe that you can make a living out of art no problem! Especially if you grow on KZbin, tiktok(maybe not since it's probably getting blocked) or byte. You can gain a following and become a freelance artist and gain partnerships and sponsorships where you can be paid to feature products and stuff! (Pretty sure it's not that easy but you probably know what I mean)

I also switched over to native it’s like the only deodorant that works for me. I have gone through so many because for whatever reason I sweat a lot and none of the other deodorants work. I will definitely be using your link when I’m running out
