I have a theory why the ink is extremely thick. The thicker the ink, the less likely it will leak if the pen's mechanisms fails and has a gap (and if it does leak, it will leak very slowly). It's probably more designed for people who need to carry a small pen to sign important documents and sometines, those people are wearing expensive clothes or carry the pen in an expensive bag.

Underrated theory! I'm a year late, but I think you're right. It works well enough for a signature now and then and to be kept in a $4,000 handbag, but it's not meant for daily use. You get what you pay for, but we're expecting a $300 pen to work better than a $0 pen because us simple peasant folk invest in function, not status. A person with $300 to burn on a pen would simply want it to look the part and make people say, "Oooh, Louis Vuitton." I've never been so glad to be a peasant in all my life. 😂

I know for a fact that the guy from ebay isnt going to load it up with some 300$ ink. The fault isnt of the brand, the brand did its job of designing the pen. Rae is at fault for buying a used pen which has had all the original valuable ink used up and replaced by what shes judging, some cheap 1$ ink.

It was really irresponsible to crack open one of those ink cartridges especially if you hadn't done research on if they still sold more of those or not. And I think you probably jumped the gun on your analysis. The pen was a used product. Which was most likely just used once or twice then stored for a long time just to be resold. That could've cause the ink to thicken, and caused it to work less effectively.

300 dollars for a pen ? Jesus Christ, that's enough of cash to supply myself with groceries for the next 3 months. I was crying the blues when I bought a Fisher space pen for 14 dollars, but that same pen has lasted me over 10 years and it's used daily even to this day, and yes, it still has the same ink cartridge in it that when I bought the pen. And yes ,this is not a advertisement for the Fisher pen company.
