Ben Wherlock It’s a good point. I went to see Coldplay in concert in 2005 at Crystal Palace and Supergrass were supporting them. I couldn’t believe my luck, but I remember thinking ‘why the hell are Supergrass supporting Coldplay? It should be the other way around!’ I think I was more excited to see Supergrass than Coldplay!! There were so many good indie bands in the 90’s. I loved all the bands you mentioned, plus: Ocean Colour Scene, Kula Shaker, Cast, Radiohead, The Bluetones, even the Seahorses were quite good! I would even give a nod to The Lightning Seeds, Space and The Supernaturals. Can anyone point me in the direction of some decent guitar bands from the last decade?

As an Anglophile, I loved Britpop and even got a chance to meet them backstage following a gig in Atlanta in the late 90's. Gaz and the drummer were assholes, but the bassist was a really nice guy. I later saw Gaz traversing downtown with two groupies on each arm. As I recall, the opening act were The Coral, who never achieved lasting success. It was their first time in America, and they were appropriately starry-eyed. And quite nice and personable. And, they were about my age at the time.
