I think the biggest hurdle for people to get over, is doing these kinda exercises in a commercial setting without feeling stupid. Which is a shame
@kevinearley18073 жыл бұрын
I agree. You have train what works for you, at the end of the day it’s your health and screw what anyone else thinks. I do giant sets of calisthenics the entire time I workout and I get the weirdest stares from people. You can’t get caught up in others opinions 🤙

The neck can also get too big. Be aware of that. I got horrible sleeping issues from my neck being too big after wrestling and starting weightlifting. I still had the big wrestling neck but added more bulk due to lifting. No bueno.

Lots of ab exercises can get it- for instance crunches without using hands behind the head. One that I found really good is crunches on a swiss ball with the neck hanging off the back.

3:35 you can turn around and have the band placed on the forehead and do the same exercises pushing forward. It works the sternocleidomastoid muscles on either side of the front of the neck.

It wasnt the neck curls that destroyed his neck. It was the insane amount of neck bridges he did.
@Jason-wc3fh3 жыл бұрын
@@alexpark1694 Yeah the neck bridges are tough as hell and damn hard on the neck. Just watching him do them makes you cringe... But it certainly gave him a monster sized neck when he needed it.

keep your chin tucked and don't do full ROM movements, especially backwards, to reduce pressure on intervertebral discs (static holds should be safer and effective), the risk is to develop a hernia (protrusion of a disk, potentially pushing on nerves), which if not too bad can heal if you let it. Just as always listen to your body, don't start/increase crazy, don't push through pain
