Mr. Dan - It's so good that you captured the fall of that container and as you said, the sounds coming from within it as it hit the ground. Please keep the footage in case the receiver tries to blame you for damages. That is another great reason for you to be filming - self preservation in these kinds of instances. Be well.

ugh, thats incredibly frustrating. im honestly surprised you let them load that container at all after it got dropped the first time, id have been extremely worried about the load inside the container being shifted after that, not to mention it was clear they lacked suitable lifting and loading equipment to do that safely, that should have been a crane or rotator load job for sure.

No. You are correct, they did not care...

In the towing industry there’s a difference between an operator, and driver! Anyone can just drive a truck or equipment, but use it in a professional way is the difference. If the table was turned and you improperly placed chains and damaged equipment or something you would be held accountable. Safe travels

I was wondering about the floor when I saw your preview. Anytime I haul those containers I always put a piece of wood on the floor for the container to sit on. A 4X4 piece of wood. Anytime anything that heavy slides across an aluminum floor it will forever damage the surface.

His problem was height though. Not enough room for a 4x4 to stay below 13’6”, but your point is totally valid. 👍

@robertmanley6102Ай бұрын
That's why it just doesn't pay to run an aluminum trailer. I know you probably think that light weight allows you to haul those heavier loads and that's true but 9 times out of 10 those heavy loads don't pay more and often pay less. Also here is my recommendation. Get a 50 foot low stepdeck. An all steel 50 foot Doonan low step with twist locks. You can haul 40 foot cans on the lower deck and the deck is flat. They have a sliding spread axle. The twistlocks allow for easy loading of cans. But here is the main reason I think you should consider switching. You're getting older. I'm 61 and getting up onto a flatbed is much harder and falling off from that height could be devastating. With a step you can do a lot more stuff that drives on or off too. The steel Doonans take a lot more abuse without damaging your trailer too. I pulled the Low Step at Landstar for many years and it fit into a good niche for getting freight. I realize Mercer may be more flatbed centric but for the future and for your ease of operating a step would be safer. A lot less tarping with stepdeck freight too. Be well, love you and Bailey's vids. :)

Dan Dan the professional flat deck man. I always thought how truck drivers have to be so regulated and be professional at all times and you go to a place to load or unload and you end up in a Mickey Mouse situation. I hope you got compensation of some sort so you can fix what they bent. So now that area will have a hard time securing a J- Hook properly. It’s dis- hearting so see such inexperienced operators on big machinery that don’t have a clue what there doing and damaging other peoples property. Dan your such the professional. I lost count of the places I would go to get unloaded or loaded and it became obvious very quickly that it was going to be dangerous and I kept my eyes on a swivel and never let anyone or anything out of my site. Glad it wasn’t worse than what it was Daniel. Anywho thanks for posting. Have a great and safe day. There are many Mickey Mouse shows going on in shipping and receiving. Happy trails to you,D…

About 40 years ago, I took my new truck over to one of my bosses friend's warehouses to pick up some heavy equipment. It was a tight fit and the forklift operator was careless and put a dent in the back while forcing the load on the wrong angle. We nearly got into a fistfight cause he said "you got to expect a work truck to get scratched up". Scratches are expected, dents are not.
