Dan doesn't usually reply to questions so maybe someone else can respond. I assume a spread axle trailer (with the lift axle down) turns a little better is because the "pivot point" of the trailer is halfway between the axles rather than at the rear axle (with the lift axle up). I also assume a downside is that it's a little harder on the trailer tires since they have to slide sideways a bit during the turn. Thank you.

I kinda doubt it covered the apu even being used still probably $6500.00 -$8500.00 trailer maybe $6000.00 so it helped but not total cost but one less thing to worry about

Most everything I've ever seen you post are things I learned way back. I drove my first truck in 1971 and I'm still out here as an O/O. Keep it simple. 98 Fld 120 with 6NZ Cat. ...paper logs... Cheaper to run some elses trailer. Less worries...

2 straps utilizing a direct securement configuration is perfectly legal albeit half the total WLL which is fine for these.. Keep up the good work.

One thing i'd warn you about on that carrier is the temp sensor likes to wiggle itself loose from time to time.

Nice one Dan. That's great that you moved on the old trailer, having trailers lying up for too long doesn't do them any good. Once the money starts coming in, it might stay coming. Hey Dan, i learned to do button turns and it makes it really easier to turn those sharp turns. but the down side is that when you make those turns , its possible to leave your turn lane open for cars to slip in between your trailer., but if you have not cars going in and out its great.

Not sure if it helps or works on yours, but when I got my dump valve with the lift axle up it trips the safety on the lift axle and it drops. It works great incase you encounter a tight spotm

Not sure I understand why it is easier to turn with both trailer axles down as opposed to just the aft axle.

The turning point on the trailer is from the first axle on the ground behind the tractor

It changes where the rear of the trailer pivots on. So instead of it pivoting on the centerline if the rear axle it pivots on the middle point between the two axles. That allows you to make tighter turns and makes the trailer turn faster.

He has a dump valve on rear axle, so dropping front and dumping rear axle shortens the wheelbase.

In my mind I was thinking one axle would make it easier. @p1kkujuha mentioned he had a dump valve on the rear axle but with this trailer I alway see the forward axle raised. Thanks for the replies.
