I was thinking the same thing, they should have built Block one to Gymkhana it. This build needs a rear mounted tuned twin turbo engine with a couple of dump valves to top it off.

What’s impressive is comparing the last 2 section times compared to the ice cars. The winner who had an ICE car was 7 seconds faster however his last 2 sections were considerably slower. Presumably air density starts to take its toll. The fact that this hauled many times the vehicle weight up the mountain is also an interesting consideration for braking handling and acceleration. Quite impressive to hang onto it. Imagine if this wasn’t an aerodynamic pig and rather a tube frame low rider.

Meh, it is what it is. Electric will always win in these short races. But ICE will dominate in real races. You know, actually racing for more than 10 minutes. Electric cars slow down as they heat up.

If this is supposed to be the future of Motorsport, I’m out. Motorsport is about to fall of a Cliff. big time. I seriously wouldn’t cross the road to see a battery powered Motorsport event. I’d much rather see and hear a thundering V8 mustang tackle this hill than a soulless EV.

I know whatcha mean but when I really think about it, would it be any better if EVs had a synthetic exhaust sound added that actually sounded as good or even better than a V8? There’s definitely an aggressive bravado thing missing, and I think the cinematography techniques also need to evolve. Maybe they synthetically add a sound that lets the driver have a feel for RPM or something idk.

In fact, when adjusting for inflation and wages, a NEW gas car in the late 1800s, early 1900s was MORE expensive than a base model Tesla. This is why cars were ONLY owned by the rich elites... even paraded around farming villages that never saw an engine in their life... even thinking it was magical.
