It's because there are a few people who don't have true disabilities and decide to cheat the system by acting like they don't. That's why the disability office will send investigators out to see if the person is employees or really doing ANYTHING that their application claims they can't do. With that being said, I know this guy isn't lying and is absolutely disabled. I'm disabled with hip dysplasia, and my dad AND little sister both have MS same as this guy. My sister has a particularly aggressive form but her meds have her under control so she is still working. MY dad worked with his milder form all the way until he started losing his ability to walk and started losing his memory and ability to retain information and for a FINANCE MANAGER for a car dealership, that's pretty important. So he now gets disability ssi and disability through the insurance. He can't work PERIOD. My sister works but idk how long she will be able to. This guy is young, and typically when you're THAT young with MS it is typically an aggressive form. And you know.... I feel for this woman too because she is stuck with the entire expense of a child she didn't make herself. She SHOULD be getting support. But what is he supose to do? MS is a deteriorating disease and when he spoke about numbers on the screen moving and getting blurry.... he likely has a lesion on his optic nerve which is common with MS patients. Both my dad and sister have that as well as SEVERE vertigo. She should be getting more help but it's not his fault that he can't provide it. It sucks but it is what it is.

I'm glad that she's not able to take his paycheck because it's barely enough for you to live on and sometimes not even that much. Granted they did that because they didn't want THEIR money to be taken by others but it still works out the same. At least disabled people know that a person can't sue them or touch their money. As a person with multiple sclerosis, she sugarcoated saying hes lying about a disability, you can see his hands shaking and his speech is slurred. I agree with the judge and the ex wife should of been understand regardless if your knew information about his diagnosis. Idk im being personal cause she showed she just wanted money and dont care about anyone.

Oh boy does this bring back memories. My late husband was a double amputee below the knee. She reminds me of my husband's ex-wife. Her comment was, "I don't care if he sits on the corner shaking his leg. Finally he was awarded his disability he paid one lump sum of $5,000. The kids said, "Look what Mom bought us." I said, "You mean Dad right?" "OH, yeah, "Look what Dad bought us. And let me tell you, the kids corrected their Mom really quick. Dad bought our new shoes, clothes, and school supplies.

I am 20 years old, I am filing for ptsd, bipolar 2 manic depression, generalized anxiety disorder, back problems, and hip impairment, I’m having my second hip surgery, and I’ve been in therapy and on meds since 15, hospitalized twice. I have a service dog. I had to have accommodations at work for my mental health issues, but with my hip problems it became too much. I’ve been out of work for a year, and I deal with my boyfriend’s family telling me I’m just lazy. They think I’m lying. Even when I tried to show them my medical records, my mri images, etc. they said “we don’t need to see it.” They refuse to believe I’m telling the truth and when I got an attorney who told me I had an extremely good case they said “they’ll just give anything to anyone.” This video warms my heart because it just showed me I’m not alone because his family makes me feel crazy sometimes.

My last manager has MS. Awesome manager. Thankfully his condition was a bit better. While working for him, I developed a condition with similar - though far less severe - symptoms. (The doctors did check me for sclerosis. So it is no picnic.) What the guy said about looking at screens is spot on. My condition created a tumor behind my right eye that almost had me blind before they got it under control. But staring at computer screens is still tough. (Obviously I still do so or I wouldn't be writing here. But one eye is squinted shut to do so.) Bad health sucks.

Joyce Wobbrock - Disability benefits to a minor child have nothing to do with income of the custodial parent. It is a benefit of the disability (soc sec) system, based on the number of points the disabled parent has in the system. It is completely separate from child support benefits.

My mom has had ms for nearly thirty years and she is fortunate to not have any severe symptoms and side effects from it but she told me that men tend to have the more severe symptoms which made me feel awful for this dad because he’s correct you can get worse within months of being diagnosed depending on the stage you’re in or what form. This mother is a horrible person talking down to him and telling the judge he’s faking and making excuses, just disgusting.

This makes me really really angry. I have a documented disability and my ex and I share 50-50 custody. He was very very abusive. He has residential custody I have an alternate custody we live in two different states. He try to go after me for child support as a way to control me. After he asked the courts to voluntarily waive child support. When we went to court and I explain to them that I lost my job about a year ago and I’m on SSI, the judge basically told my ex husband that I am not required to pay child support because of my disability. I also have sole legal custody of my oldest son from my first marriage and his father does not pay child support at all. We’ve been struggling but we’re doing OK. This mother is absolutely disgusting. Prior to me getting on SSI I worked over 40 to 60 hours a week and had no child support for my son and still provided for my youngest son. This mother needs to get off her butt and she needs to start providing for her children because I feel like a lot of women are extremely lazy these days and things just because they have a kid they can just take everybody’s money. Poor guy
