Your 7m NA/T is awesome 😎 My 7mge blew up twice. Now I have a turbo block with my old head. Just installed Tein flex z coil overs. Next is Turbo, exhaust and fuel. The GTE block was previously tuned to 770whp. 😳

Thank you! Yeah, blown engines are a real downer and it's good that you're able to get a turbo block for your build. The green Tein flex Z coilovers seem to be a popular street choice and by adding an EDFC, that's a cool setup. I'm also planning on getting a GTE short block to replace my old GE block but haven't been able to find one yet that is close to me.

Makes me feel much more confident to start tackling my turbo build for my cressida.

Go for it man! It'll give good results with OEM turbo parts and also a great learning experience. 👍

If your engine is in good shape, I'd say go for it and start looking for parts. Stick with oem style parts to keep it simple and easy.

For sure a standalone is the way to go. I'll get one eventually, most likely when I go for more boost and horsepower. At the moment, my stock ecu is working great with my stock engine.

Very nice build! Which turbo did you go with? I read you said you changed to 7mgte ecm. What other components do I need?
@juniortabios6747
@juniortabios6747 7 ай бұрын
Thank you! I went with a new CT26 turbo with a 57 Trim. And yes, I'm currently running a 7mgte ecm/ecu since I wanted to stay with stock boost. The other parts I used are oem parts and sensors that typically go with a stock 7mgte engine: AFM, air intake hose, blow-off valve, 440cc fuel injectors, HAC sensor, CPS and coilpacks if you don't want to run distributor, intercooler and piping, heated O2 sensor, downpipe, etc. If you don't have a 7mgte wiring harness, you can go to the Supra Forums to read how to convert the 7mge harness to work with a 7mgte ecu/ecm.

Are you referring to the one the guy did with the MAFT pro in his supra? I think I found the thread
@juniortabios6747

@@4traxx Not the guy with MAFT pro. The write up I'm referring to is called "Modifying 7MGE Engine Harness to use 7MGTE ECU for NA-T Conversion" and is in the MKIII Technical sub-forum.

Hi Junior! Love the car Im aiming to build a ESP car, and noticed you went with a 57 trim upgraded turbo? Just wondering since the book says stock forced induction allowed only? Also, Im looking to 'update' to a 2jzgte, will that be allowed in ESP? thanks for any help sir!

this is nice, how did you have the stock ecu tuned for the GE compression? did you use a piggy back or just a boost controller?
@juniortabios6747
@juniortabios6747 8 ай бұрын
Thanks! The ecu was switched to run a stock OEM 7MGTE (turbo) ecu. I just re-wired my GE harness so I can run this 7MGTE ecu. And no piggy back or boost controller. Since I'm GE compression, I'm limiting my boost to 7PSI. And the headgasket is Toyota and transmission is W58, so I want to stay close to stock HP and keep it reliable as long as I can.
@manjirum
@manjirum 8 ай бұрын
@@juniortabios6747Ahh ok, the stock ecu can handle 7psi reliably? I am curious, will this method work on an auto car or is it manual only
@juniortabios6747
@juniortabios6747 8 ай бұрын
@@manjirum Yeah, engine should stay reliable with 7psi (remember that stock 7mgte's make 6-7psi of boost). This setup has been running great in my Supra in the past few months and had no issues autocrossing in 5 separate events. And this conversion will work on an auto car and manual. Once a 7MGE runs turbo, make sure timing is 10deg or less, spark plug gap to 0.025-0.028" (running distributor), and use at least 91-93 octane gasoline.

@juniortabios6747

This 7mge was rebuilt using stock internals since I'm not looking for big power and running W58 transmission. Goal is 250-275 RWHP and keeping it reliable.

Do you recommend a 1991 cressida with a 7mge engine as my first car?
@juniortabios6747
@juniortabios6747 9 ай бұрын
That really depends on a few things. Condition of the car, engine, drivetrain. Familiarity with this platform and your mechanic skill level. And you don't want a money pit for a first car, lol! I really like the 7M engines; my 7M has been reliable these past 4 years and still running great. So, if that 1991 cressida with a 7mge is in very good shape, I don't see a reason why it can't be your first car. Otherwise, get a reliable car as a first car before getting any car that has a questionable condition.

@@juniortabios6747 oh okay, just trying to figure out how that works with a distributor and the injectors, the GE harness is batch fire if I have a auto GTE ecu I can just repin my harness and run the distributor with it? This would save me a headache for engine management to some degree
@juniortabios6747
@juniortabios6747 11 ай бұрын
@@michaelj4953 Yes, you got the idea. Run the GTE ecu and re-pin your GE harness to match. And you can run your distributor if you wish. Check out Supra Forums, there's a write-up on how to do re-pin and re-wire your harness to run a turbo ecu.
