This has been my favorite series done by Hikaru to date. Bong Cloud series really got me into this channel but playing down a queen against players over 2200 has been awesome to watch, and lots of funny moments.

I wonder what the next speed run will be! Personally I'd like to see a Chess 960 or Crazy House run next, but if Hikaru wins the candidates tournament he should stick to playing standard chess of course. Also Bughouse hasn't been shown on this channel in about 3 years... Would be awesome to see some collabs with other high level chess streamers that Hikaru jives with and see if he can become a top Bug player. Alright I'm rambling now...

I agree...but also want to give a shout to the editor...next level for this space in terms of production quality...Hkaru if you are reading this give your editor a raise...and if you are producing this quality yourself...then give yourself a raise...this chess content is next level.

As an intermediate player this series was flooded with concepts that were so important for me cross 2000, I learnt a lot Hikaru, will be rooting for you in the Candidates!

Lovely editing, adding the nostalgia factor to the intro, beautiful sync to the regular outro and the theme over the game. Bravo, id say this is better editing than the bongcloud finale

Agreed. I honestly think it goes unnoticed by a lot of folks - at least consciously - but Hikaru’s editor(s) do a fantastic job in making the content feel super professional. This one was by far my favorite from the series in terms of editing. Well done!

LOL "CMs and NMs: have played and studied chess for most of their lives, often being coaches for others" you can become a candidate master(CM) with 2 years serious training(6 hours a day) whether you want to devote that time is up to you.

This speedrun was so entertaining. I think I watched every episode. And so tense in the end, I was on the tip of my chair with the botez goal of 2372. It took quiet a while this one. From there the 2400 Goal you got quiet fast. You are officially the highest rated player in the world without a queen. )))))))

Same! I would be willing to bet that the number of comebacks I’ve staged down material has (no joke) at least tripled since I began watching this series. A lot of that is due to no longer getting as frustrated and resigning after blundering a piece. And the other part is (maybe misplaced haha) confidence in positions where I’m worse.

Surely this is my favourite Speedrun from Hikaru, very entertaining and also instructive in terms of fighting spirit and strategic knowledge! And I believe this is Hikaru's favourite one as well, as he had to learn on the go the best strategies to swindle and one can see how much he enjoys being challenged this way! Props to the man, good luck on the candidates!

This is nuts. Love watching how Hikaru plays staunch defense in the beginning without the Q. Also interesting how he won’t give up a bishop for a rook in the openings.

This is probably the most amazing accomplishment in chess ever. I beat scotfish when he is Queen down even in one minute game every time. And I am like 1900 player. And this Master of Universe is beating 2400+ without Queen in 3 minutes game? So happy living in this era of chess - this era when biggest chess player ever lived play online and we muggles can watch. Thank you Hikaru

Just goes to show how insane the chess ladder is... GMs can stomp 2400s without a queen lmao. Meanwhile I couldn't stomp a 2400 with an extra queen.
