I use fluoro only because it's got better abrasion resistances than mono

Flouro is great for back bays and areas where you're fighting smaller fish in clear water. Mono, especially pink and clear, is nearly invisible as well. Mono offers something that flouro doesn't and that is the stretch. If you're fishing big game, you can't go straight flouro or braid. There is no stretch in that line. When a monster hits your lure, you want some sort of cushion. That's what mono offers. Also, you can get 400 yds of 60lb Ande for line $12.

also, largest striper I've ever picked up off the beach was when I ran out of leader from big blues. I tied braid direct to 60lb black wire, direct to a 10'o river-J at 5 am.
