The first 4K video on KZbin. Yes, you read that right. The site started supporting 4K videos in 2010. However, like with our case with 8K today, it was barely possible to play 4K videos on a capable device without it being choppy. You have to spend $$$ for a device in order to view and even record 4K videos properly. Crazy how long we've gone. Though frankly enough, this video being in 4K makes it feel like it was recorded in the late 2010s to early 2020s despite being a decade old. In comparison to most videos that were released in the site during this time, this sure was a technological advancement. I wonder how 2010 computers would handle 4K60fps videos?

Surprised by everyone who's never seen the ocean flat. Pipeline in Oahu is flat all summer. You'd never know it hits 20+ for weeks in winter. NYC / LI season is August-November (hurricane season) we hit 10-15 shore breaks with a current that would make you piss. I'm sure most y'all writing negative comments wouldn't get in for that and never have! True surfers with real spirit don't put down a fellow surfing community. Many transplants in New York but those of us born and bred, we're ocean folk. Fishing boating surfing you name it. They hold the quicksilver pro here in Long Beach sometimes. The breaks in Montauk are famous. You're cool for being from Cali, brah, but nobody gives a fuck

Get in when there's snow on the ground, the water temp is 33 degrees air temp in the negatives with windchill, not a soul to be seen unless you go with somebody, then talk shit about New York / east coast surfers! You wanna see dedicated passionate badasses, or you wanna act superior for surfing in perfect weather all the time? Everyone knows west coast is soft ;)

If you guys want a smoother frame rate at original resolution, you should try to watch this video on the Internet Explorer 9 Beta. For some reason, this video plays better in IE9 and the sound is also perfect and not choppy. I guess for now, IE9 is faster than Google Chrome or any other browser. But we'll see how the final version turns out.

If you right click on the video and select "show video info", it actually says, that the resolution is 2048x1536. Now that's only 2k. 4k resolution is 3840x2160 or 4096x3076 or something like that. The horizontal resolution should be around 4000.

This looks absolutely amazing the detail is unbelievable...Whoever it isn't working for make sure you hit "original" and not 360p...And you also have to have a 1080p display at least..all this talk with 25 ft screen and stuff well yeah that's technically true as far as Pixels but the detail you see in the screen comes from what it was filmed with

@pacorocks1 oh well maybe it was the overclocked GPU that made the difference instead of my overclocked CPU.
@Generalkidd14 жыл бұрын
@pacorocks1 The Dual Core was overclocked a bit though and I also overclocked the GPU a little bit, although I don't think the GPU makes much of a difference here. And I never said the video was perfect. It just wasn't as laggy as what other people have described. A few frames were definitely dropped during playback.
@miniskunk12 жыл бұрын
Runs smooth. Can't tell if frames are skipping if they are. NIce to see a video feed that truely gives my display full resolution instead if the heavily compressed so called 1080p that youtube normally provides.Yes you have to let it buffer up a bit before playing but that is understandable. HP Envy 17 laptop, 1080p display with i7 running at 2.7ghz turbos to 3.8ghz and Radeon 7850m graphics.

@gainpro 5:4 is mainly the 1280x1024 resolution which is hard to find these days. and 16:10 WAS a standard until about 2008, now all leading companies are striving towards a consistency that all monitors are 16:9 (whether media or computer indrusty), you can have a look at their websites to see their current products. Density is higher on the 27", if you do the math, it's 109ppi for the 27" and 101ppi for the 30" with 2560x1600.
@Jcbproducoes13 жыл бұрын
loved the slideshow in 4k
@h4x0y13 жыл бұрын
@gainpro apples 27" display is great for prosumers. Higher quality displays are only needed by specific professionals, and cost some grands more than apples thunderbolt display. Generally all 16:10 displays are being replaced by smaller, higher pixel density 16:9 displays (30" 1600p -> 27" 1440p, 24" 1200p -> 21" 1080p). The industry is moving towards 16:9 and you can read as many articles as you want about it, prove me wrong. >1080p is still a tiny percentage of monitors at the moment.

This is so clear! I have a quad core pc, and its taking almost 90% of it to run this video smoothly! lol
@MGSFan0913 жыл бұрын
@ChillaxedJosh I noticed this myself and found out the reason why. When you select 1080p youtube only streams a limited number of Mbps, therefore giving you largely compressed footage (in fact if you zoom in close enough you can see 8x8 pixels). Whereas when you select 4k or Original the allowed number of Mbps (or bandwidth) is hugely increased giving much more detailed and less compressed footage. - Jamie

@Deanzsyclone That I doubt, unless you're talking about highly compressed 1080p videos. This 4k resolution is used primarily in cinema projectors, it's not for your tv or monitor, but as this things always progress, the resolutions will be increasing, and people will be able to take advantage of this format, but when that time comes there'll be even higher resolutions available for other purposes.

@cesarbrandi14 жыл бұрын
@Jordilueza Of Course there is no difference, your screen is in 1080p. The video has a higher resolution than the screen, so the definition will be the same as 1080p, since it the screen is 1080p. You just can see the difference between 4k and fullhd watching the video with a 4k screen. =)

@ArtOfWar08 You don't need an i7 just to process 4k, as long as Flash has GPU acceleration enabled, it will run well in any modern CPU, including the Core Duo and Pentium (Dual core, Merom / Penryn based). Although, i am interested in seeing how my soon-to-be 11 inch MacBook Air with an i5 and HD3000 perform playing 4k.

@exon57613 жыл бұрын
@Smolandgor Your GPU doesn't matter,youtube supports gpu acceleration only up to 1080p... 4k is processed 90%(or more) by your cpu. This is why 4k videos need four core cpu.

I've read somewhere that most anime is in 720p, so there won't be much of a difference. If we're lucky then 1080p will be mainstream in the anime industry when 4K becomes available. They're preparing the 4k monitors in case they're hosting the olympics 2020 (if memory serves me right).

@TechnomTigerGeek The idea behind 4k is that it allows you greater options when it comes to editing and compression. If your laptop or computer or TV doesn't have a resolution higher than 1080 you won't be able to see the difference. However if you had a $1,000 Dell monitor or a 27" iMac you'd get better quality results. I don't think there are any full 4k TVs, projectors or monitors out there but I could be wrong.

@joshuavdv 1) BluRay has a lower compression ratio (and therefore takes less CPU power to decompress). 2) Flash is an inefficient platform for video. Test it on as many systems as you want if you're not going to take my word for it. It's your time, spend it how you will.
