I'm a total blender noob (still busy with blender guru's doughnut and cg matter's apples), so I was so happy to stumble upon this tutorial, since imo it's structured way better than the tuts from those two. I really appreciate you putting in the time to think of an object to design, that can be finished in an hour's time and that focuses on a spesific set of concepts in blender, it really shows in the quality of your tutorial. Can't wait to see more of your work and good luck with the thesis (I know your pain).

i haven't seen this yet but i can tell it's going to be amazing. thank you!! your tutorials are what got me to learn blender. edit: i finally finished this tutorial! thank you for this, especially the whole section with the anisotropic bsdf. i was attempted to make holographic textures a few months back and when i viewed tutorials about it, everyone was just using a holographic texture image as a environment texture. it does the work but since it doesn't really bend differently in light, it's not as satisfying. even the bits with you editing image textures on ps and using stuff from the physical world was super helpful!

I would suggest putting the color ramp on ease to the imperfections are not super harsh and connecting it to the Anisotropy as well it gives it a different sheen when lights are in the scene Not trnna throw shade or anything but thought would be helpful and also welcome back and thanks for the textures!

Strangely enough, the highest res CD case files I've ever encountered on the internet came from a Sega Dreamcast emulation forum. I remember keeping a few of the image files just out of the impression the work left. Whoever was taking the photos for release groups like Echelon was very meticulous.

When you're adjusting the color ramp for the fingerprints, I might be wrong but it might make more sense to make the black color lighter instead of squishing the light and dark together so there would still be detail but the fingerprints wouldn't be so strong
