Hello everyone ! Welcome to my KZbin channel! In today’s video, I FINALLY take you all along with me to get ankle surgery! I received ankle reconstruction surgery and my doctor inserted a permanent internal brace to assist with stabilization! I was very nervous, but it all turned out great. I will definitely keep you all updated with physical therapy and getting myself back into the groove of things. As always, if you have ANY questions do not hesitate to reach out to me! Just had a similar procedure done. The anesthetist gave me a nerve block anesthesia injection near the back of the knee right after the procedure. It blocked all pain for about 48 hours, so when the nerve block wore off, the pain was barely there. Pain killers handled the rest of the discomfort.

Yes! I was on pain killers for a while, as I had some nerve damage in my pinky toe. It took a while for those nerves to settle and get with the program lol

It’ll be okay! It’s not ideal, but the pain I felt prior to the surgery is long gone now and I’m able to run without fear of breaking limbs ! Hang in there!

Hi my name is Betty Hall and I just had foot 🦶🏾 and ankle surgery about 3 wks. ago and so far I have faced and will be facing all you have experienced so far in you journey, no picnic by any means lots of pain and soreness 😅😂🤣😭😴😪🤤😓😥😢😰🤧. Hi Betty! Thank you so much for watching my video and sharing your story! I am glad to report that I am walking just fine! My first two months after my surgery weren’t the best in terms of pain. I do not run anymore, as I try to stay as low-impact as possible, but I go to the gym regularly and have had no issues since the surgery. I do tend to get ankle pain/stiffness in the colder months, but that’s my only issue.

I had this exact surgery last August and I have to have a second surgery in December because somehow I still have pain. I sincerely hope that this stops your pain, I know how hopeless it feels when it seems like nothing will work and it sucks. I’ve had chronic ankle pain for almost 8 years now (and I probably have early onset arthritis at this point) so I get where you’re coming from. I hope everything goes well for you!

I was told that i needed surgery due to a misaligned ligament. I really dont want to do it. how R u? do u think its honestly worth it?

@@ashleynichole6847 My surgery was due to a tibia / fibula fracture so I actually had no choice. I'm 3 weeks post op and I'm sore and stiff but I feel great with minimal pain.. I'm not sure as far as your situation for surgery. You may want a 2nd opinion from another ortho to be sure or browse KZbin for similar situations and journeys. That really helped ease my anxiety😊.

I just had ankle surgery yesterday so I know your pain when you said the nerve block wore off. It wasn't the anesthesia when they have you a shot in your thigh and knee. That was the nerve block. The pain medication did not work. However, I took ibuprofen with the Gabapentin and I feel no pain

I had ankle fusion surgery on July 5 2021 It’s been three months now I’m starting to walk around. Definitely need therapy however my surgery went well thank GOD for Dr.Eric Gokcen and his staff are amazing what a great orthopedic surgeon.

currently watching this after my fibula reconstruction surgery from falling on it and displacing the bone… it’s been 5 days since the surgery and the worst part now is the stitches, and knowing that there’s metal in my ankle 😭 going to the doctor tomorrow for a follow up and hoping i’ll get a walking boot next week, i hate being immobile 😭 how long did it take for you to be able to walk again after this? and i hope you’re doing better now since it’s been quite awhile since this was posted just wanted to share what i’m going through and ask how you’re doing now🥹

I struggled a lot in PT with the nerves in my pinky toe! So it took me a lot longer to get back into the groove. I got my surgery in May and wasn’t walking without crutches/medical boot until around August! 😢I’m doing a lot better now though! I go to the gym regularly and only have ankle pain/stiffness during the colder months

I am a competitive gymnast and 3 weeks ago I was put in a boot. Last week I found out I have os trigonum syndrome. I go back in 2 weeks to meet with a surgeon… PT for these next 2 weeks though. It’s competition season and I’ve missed 2 already, so disappointed ❤

@@kirstenelizabeth2882 thank you 💖 We tried casting and that didn’t work, so we did a minimally invasive surgery which didn’t work, so now about 9 months later we’re discussing bone removal surgery with a 3 month recovery time. I go back on Tuesday to talk with them… been a long road 💛

I’m about to have this same surgery next week. Two ligaments torn from the bone that need to be anchored back into the bone and my other ligaments are getting permanent stitches to tighten them. Avulsion fracture should be fixed too😭

Just an update that pain was next level😳😳😳 ended up needing a second surgery for a debridement 6 weeks later too🤦🏼‍♀️

Asian Angel Hey ! Due to Covid, my date was pushed back a LOT because the hospitals weren’t open. After I figured everything out in February, I was scheduled to have my surgery at the end of March. I had this surgery done 3 years ago. The pain is awefull! The brace did really well since the surgery. Until this weekend 😭 Twisted my ankle 2 times in about 15 min. It's really swollen, bruised, purple,.. I have to go to the hospital in 2 weeks for An MRI. It's possible the brace "Broke" I'm gutted.

Yes, the pain was hell for me. Others say that they hardly felt pain after the surgery, but my pain felt damn near worse 😭

KirstenElizabeth so the extra bone in my foot doesn’t bother me unless I hit it on something! but my arthritis is not the best! So far I have been on Methotrexate and Humira Injections weekly and I take some other pill to try and help it! but actually yesterday I had a surgery on my SI joints in my lower back! but some days are worse than others but my doctors hope that i will be in “medicated remission” within the next year! How are you doing?!

@emi Mine took about 4 months to heal! I suffered from A LOT of nerve issues so I couldnt full start physical therapy until Month 3 ! I dont have a limp anymore but the limp didnt go away until month 5 . Its been a long journey but Im getting there !

I am going to have surgery on 7-13-2923. I featured my foot I also have a bone spur and bone fractures to my ankle on both sides and its my right driver's foot .🦶🏾🦵🏾. Speedy Recovery too you. I pray you have less to no pain.
