I love the taste. Difficult to describe it, but sweet and tart. You love or hate them. Half of my family devours them, the other half gets goosebumps thinking of eating them 😨

Very difficult to describe indeed! And definitely a love or hate situation, no in-between. I like the black variety but there's a reason I didn't eat one of these on camera! 🤣

This Surinam Cherry spiked my interest as soon as I heard antioxidant and can help digestive issue. Oh by the way thanks for the clip and you 2 are fun to watch. With the description of the taste of the berry. Is there any reason to believe that taste can also connect origin of fruits and vegetables? I can only wonder if it were possible to cross pollinate some kind of plant that maybe ?neutral?(not sure if this is the right word) in its ability to grow other genus of plants that doesn't recognize the difference between tree, shrub, perennials, etc......? Could a regular pepper plant be mixed with a strawberry plant to make a bell pepper plant? Even further though Could a bell pepper be mixed with a cherry treat to make this Barbados cherry trees? As you can probably tell my ignorance is great in this area and my questions are probably ridiculous. I just start to imagine things like digs breeding history or how strawberries are different today than years ago. I lost my ability to eat peanut butter about 15 years ago. Antibiotics to me is the only explanation as I have gone through a lot of surgeries over the past 40 years. I was experimenting one year to test the theories on the microbiome to correct some health problems. I successfully was able to eat peanut butter for 2 years until I almost died of starvation and dehydration. I had been given Antibiotics shortly (2-4 months) afterwards and was unable to eat peanut butter again. I can go on about ideas I had, had on the subject (like how dirt may play a role in digestion). At any rate thanks again for this clip. Medical issues are showing some improvement. Hoping I can avoid dialysis, and heart attack. So I can get property like you two. Maybe build a walapini or something for growing year round food. 🤔

Hybridization is usually limited to plants within the same genus. So it may be possible to cross breed one Eugenia with another, say this Surinam with a Grumichama (I don't know if they will actually cross pollinate, I'm just using them as an example since we're talking about the Surinam here). So crossing a strawberry (genus fragaria) with a pepper (genus capsicum) would not be possible. Not without GMO gene splicing anyway. Glad to hear you're feeling a little better!
