Hey T90: I just finished Hidden Cup III the other day and loved it! If possible, however, could you please restrict the overall number of Naval-heavy maps for HCIV? I personally find that, as a spectator, naval games of AOE2 are not terribly fun to watch. Once the snowball gets started and/ or the other player loses their fishing ships, it's very difficult for them to come back from it. And I think the best part of HCIII were the games that swung back and forth... nearly all of which took place on land maps. I just feel that AOE2 is much better balanced for exciting land games (rather than sea games) at the professional level, as things currently stand. Feel free to offer pushback on that, as I'm still very new to the game (and a LOW ELO LEGEND to boot); I'm just giving you my thoughts as a spectator who has now seen a sizeable amount of professional games. The maps where there is a small pool of starting fish are good, but I really disliked watching maps like High Tide and that one amphibious map... most of the times, I skipped through those games only to not at all be surprised with the results. PS: *Low Elo Cup when?!* PPS: To add a little more to the above point, there's also much less diversity regarding what you can go for on water. You either get fire ships, fire ships, fire ships... or fireships and demo ships. Sometimes galleys.

AH I remember this one. He really mind gamed me good. I did see the armor right away on the spearmen and the forward castle really made me think I needed something vs karambit. This is why I went to stone with my 2nd and 3rd tcs. I was careless with my monks, which I needed later. I also really needed to be more patient with my halbs, but I had no food eco. A classic example of imp into GG. I'm sure I was laughing on my stream about this one 11 This just shows that you still need to be active with scouting even if you think you know what's coming.

How much of a difference would it have made to scout the stables behind the castle and be aware of the elephant plan 2 minutes earlier?

@@tomascayul5728 dunno about that, yes each monk can take out two elephants if it gets the conversion, but they take more than twice as long to train as the elephants do, it's going to be hard keeping up when there are 3 stables 1 monastery. Trade efficiently, but too few If he had seen it coming definitely, but by the time there are 10 elephants in your eco, time has past :/

Yes! I was surprised T90 didn't talk about that. Inc sniped the monk counter while still managing to hide what he was going for. such a small detail, but so good!

Interesting thing to note: Inc has actually been around almost as long as Daut. His first tournament appearance was in 2003, although like Capoch he seems to have taken a decade and a half off in between then and now.

Karambits as monk-killing kamikazes while he was building up the elephant herd was a nice touch too. Always good to see some ELEPHANT STOMPY. I would like to play Khmer just to always FC into Battle Elephants backed up by Ballista Elephants, but it's A) super gold intensive B) too easy to counter with monk+halbs.

One thing that might have been a factor on how long survivalist stayed in the game As you said, you've never seen this situation, survivalist probably didnt either He could be trying to figure out where he went wrong, what he could've done differently, trying out things that *may* work on a small scale and maybe they're the counter to the strat in the future, how he was mindgamed

Since this game is really messy, it will take lots ıf tğme and effort to master it and I don't have such free time. That's why I never started playing.

Good strategy, but Survivalism really could have been way more aggressive. When you cant see any military buildings other than a barracks and your opponent is fully walled and shown nothing but 3 spears, you can probably assume they're fast castling into a 3 tc boom. He fast castled himself with celts, dont just sit back and boom too, take the initiative and pressure the malay player with pike/siege or knights.

I don't agree, Survivalist failed getting the intel, and didn't try it hard. Even if he's not playing an archer nation, as he can't get in, get intel, he shoud have harassed woodlines, also proxy melee production and starve Inc. to death as he won't be able to get wood or to get out. He had an advantege ,and didn't push it, instead, just sat on his victory.
