I felt uncomfortable hearing how she spoke about sex with her husband. She likes to “give him something” every other day? I don’t know, I’ve enjoyed all of the other guests you’ve had but this one really did not resonate with me (which is obviously fine not everything is meant for me lol)

also obviously the anti LGBTQ stuff that doesn’t even need to be said almost

You lost me at the anti-gay rhetoric, and the guest implying that a gay couple wouldn’t be best at raising a child made me super sad

@@luciebfinkI appreciate how you tried to tactfully responded in the moment, but also how you added in a clip of a confirmation of your beliefs.

People are allowed to have differing opinions and she wasn't being hateful.
@lucygaffneyboro3343 ай бұрын
@@caitlinhulsman380but the differing opinion isn’t like chocolate versus vanilla. It’s saying that two people would not do a good job of raising a child because they love someone of the same sex.

When my husband and I were looking into having a baby through surrogacy it upset me to see that many of the surrogates were only willing to match with straight intended parents. I'm a bi woman and my husband is a straight man, so while we would be considered a "straight" couple in this context it made me feel very uncomfortable on behalf of my community which of course includes many same-sex intended parents. I understand that everyone has their own views but I honestly don't understand why agencies allow this / how this isn't seen as blatant discrimination. It never sat well with me and this is the first discussion of this issue I've seen. Thanks for a great episode as always, and for making your views on this clear!

Very interesting thought about the agencies allowing it!!! Thank you for sharing. ❤️

The surrogates are allowed to feel comfortable, too. ❤

I’ve followed you both for a while so I was so excited to hear this! My biggest take away is that Sam has really matured from her first journey as she spoke with grace and respect for all included!

What an amazing episode, again! I really appreciate how you handle different perspectives with all your guests. I would have liked to hear more about Sam and Dan's children experience, having their parents pregnant with somebody else's baby. Sure it will be a life long family memory!

Very very interesting episode, especially the hitting on religious factors. Didn't think about that. Cool episode though!! Big fan of your podcast and you since your refinery days😊

OOooooofff. Sam had everyone until she blames bigotry for religious views.
@claireashley4272 ай бұрын
She was clear about her views based on her faith. How exactly did she blame bigotry? I didn't hear her say anything to suggest that. Also that makes no sense. Why would she blame her views on anything negative when she doesn't view them that way?
@CP23922 ай бұрын
@@claireashley427 It’s never okay to hold those views. Gay people will exist whether you like it or not. If you don’t like it, don’t be gay. Being gay doesn’t make a person less deserving of being a parent if they wish to be one.

Great episode! I come from the same faith background as Sam although I see the issue as more of a grey area. Am also a fan of you and your podcast Lucie. So I appreciate that even though her opinions were different than your own, you still allowed space for that disagreement and discussion!

Thank you for not cutting out the part where Sam speaks on her beliefs. I actually have the same beliefs as her, but I still listen to and enjoy your podcast. I think that it is okay to respectfully disagree with someone who has an opposing opinion. The world needs more of this.

Me too, we can believe different things and still respect each other. 🤍

Agreed! You don't just censor part of a conversation simply because someone has different beliefs. It's not hateful it's just a different point of view. I appreciate her not cutting it out as well.
