The Fire Giant Surtr is a very fascinating and tragic character in God of War Ragnarok. But ON TOP OF THAT, he seems to be a direct reflection of Kratos in the game. Here's how.

It's the worst part of the game as it disrespects the set up of the 2018 game and the characters are poorly written, rushed, and bland. In fact, the whole game is rushed. Everything happens so fast and in such a rushed and offhand manner that the ending doesn't even feel earned.

God this brought tears to my eyes. Very impressive observation and analysis. I'll admit this game has its shortcomings and inconsistencies but boy does it deliver some interesting nuances and themes on a closer look. Ngl during the reception of this game i think a lot of us were blind towards the actual strengths of this game. Hopefully with time and smart folks like you we uncover this game in a more constructive and mature manner and see it for how truly good it is even despite the flaws, instead of having to listen to dipshits about how the game is being a movie and "doesn't use the medium to tell a story" (what a bunch of crap lmao) Lovely video man hope you get more subs.

Just kidding, it was fun :) And about that Surtr arc, i had some similar thoughts and feelings before, but never gone that deep in reflection. I think it was 100% intentional, because, like in my example, even if you don't think about it, you can still feel the similarities between him and Kratos. And most importantly, Kratos probably felt that too, so Surtr's bad example could gave him another food for thoughts in the end and helped him change his nature.

very interesting thank you. As you say, I don't know if it's intentional or not, but it makes a lot of sense and it's hard to believe it's not intentional after watching your vid. There is a question I haven't seen addressed in any vid I've seen: who is that big guy to the right of the yellow statue of Kratos that we see at 5:23 in your vid? Feels like Thor to me. But in principle this is a view of the future, so why would he be there?

So, the original panel was Kratos' death, and the image is identical to the one on the Jotunheim mural Atreus sees. So yes, it is Thor, but because Kratos spared Thor and changed his fate, this didn't come true, and the new golden prophecy was drawn over the old. So the Thor is supposed to be ignored, essentially, he's not part of the new prophecy.
