It's mythology. In the same way myths might be internally consistent, they are often inconsistent with other myths in the same mythology. To try too hard to explain their connections is really a fruitless endeavor. And the whole mythology districts thing risks turning the world into a bad young adult sci-fi novel concept.

I have a theory, so in god of war 2018 there’s the boat captain’s ship, which means that it’s possible for normal people to travel across land, so what if the kraken was a creature from Midgard that traveled across the Greece and Poseidon kept it in case he would ever need it

I really enjoy this full character arc he has. Because people do change, and gain regrets or pride in their actions when looking back. And this furthers our development in weird ways later. So seeing him go down this line feels complete even if wrong. And to see him try to be better later is a bit more satisfying.

Great theory In the novel with lore Ares gained control over the dead and a selection of monsters, poseidon could not do anything because it'd be him attacking ares' forces directly, and zeus forbid the gods wage war on one another, hence why poseidon enlisted kratos

I think you are finding a paradox because you are looking for one. You are looking at this wrong. As you said, the point was to show that Kratos was evil, but at the same time give you just enough to try and side with him. Zeus still did all the things he did in the previous games, that still remains a fact. The gods betrayed Kratos, they had him run errands, and do all the dirty work for them giving him fake hope of ending his nightmares. In reality, no god was free of blame. Gaia betrays him, Aphrodite could be skipped if I am not mistaken (but how many skipped?) Hephaestus betrays him first by sending him to fight Kronos hoping he would die, then trying to kill Kratos with the weapons he promised and is forcing Kratos to kill him. Let me remind you at this point, killing the innocent for health orbs was completely optional, they were not treated as enemies in the way that you didn't need to kill innocent people to progress (with a few strategically placed exceptions exceptions) yet how many of us did it? I would argue the vast majority did. Let me also remind you when killing zeus the end cutscene only play s when the player stops hitting zeus. The game gave the player complete control over Kratos and guess what the player did? We all lashed out on Zeus, and the game predicted it firstly by making your vision more and more bloody up until you can't even see and yet you are free to punch zeus as long as you want even after you practically can't see. We the player did that, it was on our hands. Killing poseidon's princess was meant to show Kratos' nature, what's confusing you here? It's meant to induce mixed feelings, if every action induced the same feeling the game would be linear and that's the worst thing you can do when writing a story. So are you confused about why the story and character development isn't trash? Back to my original point of you are looking for a paradox. The murders are not paradoxical because they induce different feelings, that is beyond illogical. Of course you don't feel the same way, what even is that argument? And of course it works, NO you are not either completely onboard or completely against. Again what is it with this skewed logic? What you are claiming is untrue and makes no sense, moral choices are not black and white. You see a game full of moral conflict and weighting the balance if ends justifying the means and you claim "either you are 100% onboard or 100% against" i mean what??? "judging Kratos for doing it means judging the player for enjoying it" that is the exact premise of the game, duality is not paradoxical, that was the entire point. Your Pandora section is almost insufferable. "How is she different from poseidon's princess (earlier mentioned as sex slave)" she is not a sex slave? She did not willingly gave up her morals to side with gods? She is not power hungry? She is innocent? She is a CHILD??? "But suddenly he cares for this one girl because she reminds him of his daughter Calliope?" you are phrasing it as if you are saying the most insane illogical thing but it makes PERFECT SENSE. Of course he cares, all the "other Calliopes that already died from his actions" he never met, he never talked to and they never had an impact to him? The same way you care about the George or Jennifer that you ACTUALLY KNOW and NOT every single George or Jennifer on the planet? You have completely lost me at this point, it looks to me like you are just trying to justify a clickbait title. The game doesn't try to bring the empathy back, it never lost it. It just made you conflicted about it but as I said above with the zeus ending it is pretty clear the player was conflicted yet in favor of Kratos. "The price humanity pays is too high, but somehow he is supposed to earn our empathy at the end" he gave the power of hope to the people ? Hello? Of course he is irredeemable, even Kratos himself thinks that that's why he gives the power of hope to the people because he trusts the people more than Athena to rebuilt all they had lost because upon being cleared of his rage the true realization of what he had done set in. All 100% clear, straightforward, understandable, sensible, logical and definitely NOT paradoxical. "He can either be an irredeemable monster or a redemptive anti-hero" wha- in what universe? You NEED to stop thinking that morality is black or white and think that it's true. You couldn't be MORE wrong. "He can't be both, it just doesn't work" I think you are talking about the wrong universe, where everything that's correct here it's the opposite in the wrong universe. So in THAT universe that statement is true. At the end you think the player sided with Kratos because it's fun, I mean this upload is in 2024, 2 new games have been released to give you a clue that what you are saying has no grounds to reality. Me a player that pounded Zeus until my hands could no longer press the button in the new games i felt the guilt and shame in Hel when the Kratos vs Zeus was shown and the camera switched to First Person perspective. It brought back all those feelings along with the realization that I personally did this, not only Kratos. Yet you are claiming people sided with Kratos because it was fun, completely disregarding the emotional connection, which of course is not true for everyone and especially not for the younger audience the game attracted but how can you make a video talking about the game if you disregard valid arguments just because they don't fit the narrative you are trying to sell? Seriously, i stopped watching at the 17 minute, I physically CAN'T continue this video. You are just trying to sell a clickbait title, you got your facts wrong, your arguments wrong and your logic backwards.

i agree with everything kratos did to the gods, and their underlings, i am sorry but the gods don't care about mortals. they never have, if you didn't worship them, they would destroy you and whole towns. kratos was fine with butchering towns of people for ares. but there was no reason for him to move kratos family, then having him work for them in promise of removing the ash. and pulling a dick move and saying no. also hermes was not innocent, mocking kratos knowing what he is going through. further tormenting him. he may have been a small player in the games and lore, but he was stupid for mocking the ghost of sparta.

14:40 it doesn't necessarily throw a wrench in the works, it would just mean that one of the gnostic versions of Christianity is the correct one in this universe. To the Gnostics, the old testament god was like these other flawed gods in the God of War series: flawed, certainly not omnipotent and not the true god. Jesus was not the son of that god, but rather a human possesed by a perfect being from the pleroma who returned there at the crucifixion. The "God of War is Gnostic" theory works great 👍

It’s not that crazy if you compare it to real world governments. Arbitrary area of influence, differences in rulers and laws. Just with them being divine beings, the laws are less moral guidelines and more laws of reality.

There are so many people that annoyingly misinterpreted the story and the character of Kratos in the classic games. If your idea of Kratos is simply "angry man" you've missed the point of the story.

Kratos is DEAD. Hence, Valhalla. He is in Valhalla. There's no leaving Valhalla to return to other Norse Realms. When you're dead, you're dead. In Valhalla. Tyr never stepped down. He is still the Norse God of War. The Narrative throughout the expansion was getting Kratos to acclimate to being in Valhalla. Valhalla in Norse mythology has always had its own military structure, defense, and leaders. Kratos accepted his permanent position in Valhalla as a military strategist. The "Throne" cutscene with his former self was a concept. He didn't take Tyr's throne. The God of War franchise hasn't seen any new content, or even hints to another title in nearly 5 years. Moot video.

Alfheim needs Frey back and we didn't have enough of the one and only hippie god. Sindri needs to sow Loki's lips shut. Kratos and Freya need love. If there will be an invasion it should be from the Roman pantheon. Remakes are a must. And who blew the horn. No Atreus game pls. Next protagonist should be evil Loki.

Pretty sure the mesopotamia one is just the void, not actual living water. That void exited in the under world of Kur when Gilgamesh travelled there. Instead the water that gives life is Tiamat, the salt water and her husband the fresh water.
