As a retired Aerial Mapping Pilot . . . I can relate. There's a lot of complex equipment in the back of the aircraft that all needs to play well together. Plus the airplane and all of its stuff. You finally get the weather you need over the project and . . . some small glitch with the LiDAR or camera isn't working right. Crew may offer up some bad words. Hopefully not with a hot mike.

@@jqxok I believe they said email in the video. I do similar work with uas. I would imagine that they just screenshotted the mission planning software with the grid lines overlaid on a base map so ATC could see where they would be flying. They might have overlaid some Iat/ lon coordinates as well.

@@jqxok Hi jqxok, Most larger ATC facilities have a position called “Plans and Procedures”. Whoever was that person would be who I coordinated our projects with. I think most ATC facilities are/were averse to working with email due to concerns about software malware. So sending a project map via FAX was the normal way to communicate. Also made many in-person visits with approach control facilities. Almost always enjoyed working with various ATC folks. They usually worked hard to help us get our project accomplished safely. Lot’a good folks work there.

Better than what happened here. One of our accountants was having a "spirited" discussion with a client. They missed the phone cradle and instead plowed the receiver right through the phone's LCD screen. I came into my office after lunch and found said phone on my chair with a note, "This is my phone. I broke it. I'll pay for it. - - (name)". After I found out the story and recognized the client as a grade #1 a-hole, I told him not to worry about it. I expensed the phone to the client over the next two years in extra copy costs.

@@NETBotic if you are lucky and notice you stop straight away a slightly wavy line if you don't and you have autosteer you have a lot more cursing especially when sowing though even when just spreading fertiliser it will make you sweat especially at the moment as either some parts will have to little or some will have too much you'll have also likely crushed a some of the crop as it will veer off the tramlines. If you have a variable rate spreader it will mitigate some of it though even those can only work to a certain degree and also work off the gps so where you were and where it thinks you were won't be right

@SlipShodBob
@SlipShodBob 2 жыл бұрын
@@lemonator8813 as long as you have a correction signal like RTK either through signal amd SIM card or base station if you pause it or stop it you can go back within an inch and if you have the implement with variable rate it will apply from where it finished or you stopped and went to carry on. Most systems like commercial passenger jets will also use other components like accelerometers and gyros to further improve accuracy as GPS even with a correction signal won't take into account the contours of the ground. You have different levels of accuracy depending on the system and if there is a correction signal being used with some the costs will negate the benefits and they'll use a basic system that basically cross-references their position via the various constellations but the accuracy will range in practice from 20cm to several metres and if you stop in one place you see the position walk after that you have varying correction signals you can subscribe to either from the tractor manufacturer or direct from the GPS manufacturer which improves accuracy down to RTK which you can use by setting up your own correction signal via a base station but even with that the costs can vary depending on if you need a broadcast licence. It is why here they are the most common thing to get stolen as often they are left on the machines overnight as after long hours you just want to sleep I believe John Deere tried to prevent this by integrating the system into the cab roof of their new guidance enabled tractors rather than external mounted receivers so thieves have taken the whole roof from some tractors.

I've got an old Navy buddy who's now flying survey flights out of the midwest, and this sounded a little bit like him...I'm reaching out to see if this is him or not...

LOL. At first I thought, must be a 'rental'... on my check ride day at KSUS, the mic button was messed up and almost had to return for repairs. I didn't get upset like this guy. wow..

This guy is probably up at some god-forsaken hour, flying an old plane held together by the bare minimum maintenance, and hopes and dreams. Also with equipment that all has to work together perfectly, which in this case didn't.

im curious how D21E did not even alert him to the hot mic. ive heard plenty of hot mics in ZTL airspace, Approach and Departure, towers, not once have i ever witnessed it going un-answered. not with language like that.
