I really love your videos and love the Exotac products as well. I've been ordering them for myself and family. They are quality products and made here in the US, a bonus indeed. Do not mind paying for quality verses quantity.

We did a failure analysis of the product you speak of and compared it against the standard Zippo lighter. Your lighter failed to stay lit in the lightest breeze. We altered the wick as per advice from the company, and filled it with fluid then turned it upside down and allowed the wick to be saturated. We did the same with the Zippo. The Zippo, which costs a quarter of the price of your novel lighter, consistently preformed better. This was a great surprise considering the Exotac was a high tech and elegant design . Our failure Analysis group advises outdoorsman and woman to test a product first prior to taking it into a wilderness area. However, if your goal is to light your backyard grill, than both lighters will do. Otherwise, take a Zippo. Your choice your money.

Totally love the exotac gear. Yes it’s expensive but the quality you get when you spend your money is equitable value. You are not on the losing end like you are with so many low end pieces of gear. Great job as usual Brian.

I have a titan lighter I got many months ago. I have only filled it once. I don't smoke but I use it around the house. Yesterday I used it on heat shrink while working on my truck. The down side is you can buy a truck load of bics for one titan.

The magnetic item after the key ring might do well in a helicon or maxpedition pouch fire or EDC kit pouch to hang a quick deploy flashlight or fire starter. Anything you use on a regular basis. Not a bad idea. Pull it out and put it back in just like that.

NIce...I like that titanLight. I totally believe in using fire to make fire. I keep a Scripto folding refillable lighter, a small butane jet torch lighter, several durafame firestart cubes, matches and a ferro rod I got free on one of my knives in my EDC bag. NEVER had a problem starting a fire or lighting birthday candles.

did you try IMCO lighter instead of BIC? It small, can work a candle and pretty reliable

I hate saying this because I love Zippo, but I have a near 30 year old IMCO made in Austria that is still getting it😂 I've replaced the cotton and wick in the thing God knows how many times and it'll still hold fluid in hot weather better than a ZIPPO

Great video, and thanks for the SOP20 code which I just used to get a Firerod and the XL length replacement rod. I love my NanoStrikerXL in my small kit and was wanting to have an Exotac in my main kit as well. Was going to do it through Amazon but the 20% off through their website shaved a few dollars off the price even with shipping. Much obliged!

MY FAVORITE EXOTAC product is the 3 wick candle tin .. only about 3 in in diameter and half an inch thick.. filled beeswax candle.. so light yet you can use it to cook on or heat your emergency shelter

If you haven’t tried Tortoise Gear FireAnts, Firefly fire starters and Helix Tinder for Swiss Army Knives you should take a look at them. All your favorites are good ones to carry. The Tortoise Gear fire starters you might find useful to have too. I like them for their small size and easy carry and use. Large Ferro rods are fine but prefer smaller ones that take up less space. The Swedish Fire steel Bio Scout 2 in 1 Ferro rod comes with a striker and emergency whistle and is my favorite size for carry. With the included striker you can make a fire even without a knife. 🔥🙂

Mine is the Brass XL and it is the only lighter I have tested that holds fluid equally as good as the Titanlight. I love it. But the TitanLight is easier to operate and maintain for me due to size. If these companies made a Maratac stainless as BIG as the Titanlight, or a stainless TitanLight, I would buy it if Hades froze over😂

Tried to purchase two Exotac TitanLight with your 20% of code. Since the order was over $100 I was given free shipping,BUT when I entered the 20% off code the free shipping was taken away and I was chaged for shipping. I contacted Exotac and was told that was their policy. So inefect 20% is not really 20% if your order is over $100. I am not aware of any other company that does this. Please let me know if you know of any.

We live in the mountains about 8000’. Using a bic lighter or a butane “torch” lighter is problematic. Zippo lighters are ok but the fuel evaporates. Exotac products are my go to for fire starting. I would rather spend cash money on something that works every time than nickel and dime something that doesn’t work.

Yep, so many people base their opinions on things like this on their own limited personal experience and fail to consider anything different than that.

Great video Bryan! Exotac makes great gear, I've had their gear in my packs since their beginning in 2009. I have maxpedition pocket organizer kits that have the tinder zip for zipper pulls, nanosparks in them, ripspools (one of my favs) in them and have had Titan lights in them before, My tests on the Titan light with a full tank held the fuel for over a year. I lit it once a month for 14 months then gave it as a prize to a student in one of my classes who impressed me. People can say what they like about Bic lighters, but they're one of the most unreliable lighters to keep in a kit you can go with. It's too easy for them to leak in a pack in temperature changes. I prefer a Zippo to a Bic, at least teh Zippo is consistent. And it too can be set down to dry tinder while you work on other things, unlike the Bic. I wouldn't sweat the haters. Haters gonna hate, and cheapskates will always be cheapskates. I spend a lot of time in the middle of nowhere exploring, I prefer to invest a in quality tools I expect to keep me alive.

Kerosene in the lighter is a good idea. Kerosene will stay good for at least 20 years. That's from personal testing. I use my grandmother's kerosene lamps when the power goes out and I know the kerosenes been in there at least 20 years 😂.

Love my Exotac products. Whine all you want but guys I've topped my Titan light off 3 times, never burned up a wick, didn't set the house afire because I have sense enough to wipe it off just like ZIPPO still tells you to do BEFORE you light theirs, Keep extra flints , a spare wick and pin and o rings with it, use Coleman fuel. The thing just doesn't let $80 a gallon Zippo fuel evaporate in front of your eyes, doesn't get wet. The NanoSpark just works...just need some cotton and Vaseline or char cloth etc. Don't have the FireRod XL yet but I will😂and the MatchCap XL for those UCO Titan Storm proof matches. If I'm going to use a match and I've "only got one" Discovery Channel style...that's the match...great video Brian

Zippo fluid should be Naptha. Coleman fuel is Naptha based and costs less. It's also available in quarts.

I use Crown white gas. I mentioned ZLF and Ronsonol so that people get a general idea of how STUPID ZLF pricing has become. A $1 an ounce at one point last year. Yet people cry over $3 a gallon gas or $20 A gallon Coleman fuel. I simply transfer the Coleman fuel or naphtha into Ronsonol.fuel bottles I've had for ages with a quart jar and a small funnel😂
