Col. John Morrissey (USAF Ret.) and son Matt Morrissey made this video in 1999. At the time Matt was the Western Hemisphere’s Sukhoi sport aircraft distributor.
Father and son felt they needed to do something to show the “What If” situations that happen when a departure from controlled flight occurs. They made the video as an instructional presentation but emphasize that THE VIDEO DOESN'T TAKE THE PLACE OF ACTUAL IN-PERSON FLIGHT TRAINING.
The video is half presentation and half in-flight visual instruction with three different types of aircraft filmed with three camera positions; a wing tip camera, a forward-looking camera and a camera that captures the pilot's use of all the controls plus a view of the instrument panel.
The video was shot in Kansas City, Kansas during the time period the movie, "Mr. and Mrs. Bridge" starring Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward was being filmed. There were several film crews involved in that movie and after it was completed three of the crew members came out to a local airport to do the filming for this spin video.
