Because people sadly seem to like to ignore the real issue. They rather pretend what she is bringing light to doesn't exist alot of people have the idea if it's sad something to not talk about so they focus on videos that are just about them for a moment feeling they too are livung a glamorous life as the videos they watch of rich folks showing off their money

I know many people, including myself, wanna feel guilty, but that's not really fair either. There's always someone worse off than you, but at the same time there's always someone living way better than you too. Appreciate what you Do have and Help others if you Can. But don't feel "guilty" simply cause you were born into an average life. You're not gonna get your 100 Gallons a day down to 5, but even if you make an effort and reduce it how ever much you can, that's already better.

Even then, it's not exactly necessary for us to reduce our water intake. It's not like the water we aren't using will go to Africa, instead it'll probably just end up in the oceans, since it likely comes from a river. The real way we can help is to give them better water sources, not disadvantage ourselves by giving up water. So we can appreciate our privilege by discovering technologies to help others, or to donate our money from working to them so someone else can provide a better source of water.

The thing I think about is I'm super thankful for water but sense we have that abundance of water we live like a person with a lot of water while people who are left fortunate live like a person with less water. The people who live without a lot of water dont know any better because that would be how they grew up. I feel like if I didnt have water I would be able to ration and change my lifestyle. Not saying we shouldn't care about the people who dont have water but we can't feel bad for living like we do. Just be thankful and try to give back

True. If that was happening in Cali, you bet it would have been solved years before. And no, it’s not even just the lead anymore that’s the issue. The kids will have long term damage to their skin, brains, and immune systems because of the water. And the worst part is that the frigging state is surrounded by fresh water that can’t even help them. I grew up in Michigan, but I am not proud of my state.

The closest thing you get to flushing out there is peeing/pooping in a bucket then burying your poop or dumping your pee into a pile of dirt. And the best thing they have for private bathroom use is a curtain. No locked doors or anything. So yes, proper plumbing and flushing is definitely a privilege that we don’t even think about.

As a puertorican, I realized how priviledged I was to have clean water on a regular basis when we lost that priviledge for about 3 or 4 months after hurricane Maria (in my town. Some other towns took up to 8+ months). This isn't meant to take attention away from the topic of the video. It just brought back memories of bathing with buckets of water and cloths, and boiling our water before drinking it or cooking with it. Definitely humbles you.

I live in Cape Town South Africa and we have suffered a drought for over two years now. During the summer a few months ago, this was our reality for a few months. Thanks for bringing awareness to the world water crisis. Although our dams are filling up now that it’s winter, we’re still technically in a drought. We use grey water (so saved water from cooking, cleaning etc) to flush the toilet and only flush with it when it’s necessary. Drinking water, we have the privilege of living near to a natural spring that we still queue for, and those who can afford, buy water.

I don't know if this is insensitive, but I want to point out that in Canada that most indigenous reserves have no potable water. about 80%. I've always lived in Canada and having to be careful of my water usage because we'd have to fetch spring water, our water wasn't potable. A great tip to reduce water usage during dishes are to use a bowl where you'll wash your dishes, low rinsing, and use that soapy water to clean your surfaces too. We have electricity at times, so I could boil water to bathe. Sanitation is the biggest water usage I've had to waste, you always have to wash things and yourself in a specific order so it just doesn't contaminate all of your water supply that you use for sanitation. I know live in a place where I can drink water from the tap, and I've never felt so good and privileged to have it.

one thing Michelle. You can clean your dishes without using water at all. When I go camping, I use a little bit of olive oil and a quarter cup of salt to scrub my dishes. Heat your pot or skillet, pour a bit of oil in it and then add a bit of salt. Then use a paper towel and scrub it real good, wipe it with a clean paper towel and put it away. your plates can be cleaned the same way. Only instead of putting the oil on your plate put it on the paper towel, pour a bit of salt on the counter and dip the towel in it. then just scrub your plate clean, wipe with a fresh paper towel and it is done. Salt is a preservative and works well to clean too.

I think you were showing your regular routine and how you use water which was great education. However, there were ways that you could have conserved the water you had. 1. Flush only if you have a BM. Toilet paper goes in a garbage bag. 2. A small bowl of soapy water to reuse washing your hands. some people use Hand sanitizer. 3. Save up your dishes and then use a very small amount to wash them all at the same time. 4. Washcloth to wash face and body. Only wash the body parts that need to be washed. Do not shave legs. 5. No make up 6. laundry only when the clothes are very dirty. Spot wash as well such as armpits of the shirt. *I'm sure I've missed a few. ** I used to live in the Arctic Circle where we had to have water hauled in and sewage removed. We could have a snow storm that lasted 5 days. So the moment that the storm is coming you conserve even more. The storm could come when you only have 1/2 a tank of water left. I had a family of 4 so you conserve. I basically kept water to eat and drink and flush when necessary. Dishes only when necessary.
