This is my new favourite channel. I used to ride an R1 and I wanted to get into dirt bike riding, so I bought a brand new YZ250. That thing humbled me. I broke it the first time I rode it and I gave up after a few outings as I just couldn't get to grips with riding. Now I'm thinking I want to try again and put some time into learning, rather than going out and trying to keep up with my mates who were excellent riders. LOL.

Plenty of upgrades you could do from suspension to big bore. However for once I would say take it to Yamaha. They do this really great service for old, tired and generally crap bikes where all you need to do is take it in, pay a not unsubstantial amount of money and it comes out with way better suspension, loads more power and generally in much better condition. They call it the "part exchange" programme.

I learned to ride on a Yamaha TTR 90, i later changed to a much older Suzuki DS80 and then jumped to a KTM 85 SX, followed by a KTM 250SXF, then KTM 300 EXC. the TTR 90 was the one bike we sold and never seen again.
