The problem with baltic focuss trees is the civil war if you do it wrong. There was literally 0 risk of civil war IRL so its like adding risk of civil war if you do it wrong to every country makes no sense.

Latvia's focus tree is one my favorites, but that stems from a personal preference of playing tall, which Latvia does permit. The democratic Latvia can be spliced with its independent fascist path, where you flip the paramilitaries to supporting you along with the democratic manpower options you get on that line. Its also very worthwhile to let Estonia just exist for a bit so they can max out their oil through their own focuses before federating/annexing them. I like to do the same thing with the communist belorusian SR path for latvia as well (you get the most cored territories with this path for latvia) and if you do the allied investments and get the ford motors modifier, you end up with really, REALLY cheap mechanized, especially after dumping army experience into reducing the cost further. What I usually do for army compositions for them is just make meatshield AA heavy foot divisions with superior firepower doctrine, AA +artillery support, engineers, recon, and field hospitals (manpower is a problem even with the absurd modifiers you get for it lol) , and then an elite army of 30 mechanized with motorized artillery and AA, with a general in command that has all the modifiers for them, and use him as a genius combined arms officer in my Command Staff. My line holds no matter what, while my mechanized cut up the enemy fronts like a hot knife through butter. Frequent overruns and large encirclements, while the infantry just follow along and build up entrenchment.

Latvia has a focus that gives it claims for Russia, Germany and Sweden. My personal goal has been to not only survive as Latvia, but also defeat all three of these powers. Haven't had much luck yet, would to to see a video like that.

Before the last patch I played democratic Estonia and united the baltics diplomatic. The main threat was always the SU, with a huge army at the borders and constant naval attacks from the back. As Estonia you can change your Capital to the isle of Ösel and fortify it heavy. It is quite good to defend and I "survived". But in the peace talks germany took all of my land because of the war score, even some parts of my never lost north of estonia. I had the same trouble with greece by going no step back but in the final peace talks losing the north to communist Bulgaria....

literally the first game I "won"(achieved all of my goals, finished the focus tree and got to be on a winner's side of WW2) was my fascist Estonia campaign. Got Finno-Estonian League, allied German Empire, Poland and Austria-Hungary(I disabled historical decisions) and just waited most of the war with literally zero divisions as my allies did all the work. Only helped them at the very beginning to take Onega, Olonets and Kola and than just fired 60 divisions because I needed manpower for the garrisons. Proclaimed Finno-Ugria and then helped the reborn Central Powers take on Britain with my shitload of fighters lmao.
