The idea of shopping for the right therapist is not the tiniest bit grounded in real life. Yes, it's important, but someone who's severely depressed does not have the money, energy, or resources to do this. People who suffer badly can barely get out of bed, they are barely functioning .....

Your upbringing, social economic status, broken homes, the way you’re nurtured as a child, abuse in the family, addiction in the family, lack of social support or environment, genetics to some degree, situational issues, lastly, nutrition, ALL play a role in depression. But it’s my belief that nutrition is the key to healing our body, soul and mind. Clinical depression sucks, it robs you from a life you deserve but there’s hope… earth has the answers to what our bodies need, especially our minds. Proper hydration is another factor, your brain needs water! So feed it

If you have depression in your adult life, chances are you had a really great childhood. The contrast between what you thought life was like, and what life is actually like, is what causes the depression. Reframe your reality, and depression mitigates.

Very informative video. A suggestion to feel better. Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath and mind [brain] are closely related causing stress-anxiety. For a better life sit on a chair, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. Change happens from within by itself. Day or night, when taking a walk, sitting in a park, when reading, at office, before sleep etc sit or lie down and observe your breath. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Reduce watching negative social media. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes. Senior Counsellor.

@@ttephi3667 How I solved my issue several years back was with a simple diet and daily meditation because mind and body affect each other leading to psychosomatic problems. Each individual's body and mind react differently to various forms of treatment. Start the day by taking a glass of warm water on an empty stomach and thrice a week have simple lemon water on an empty stomach. Before lunch and dinner take a glass of warm water and around 6-7 glasses of normal water in the daytime. StrIctly avoid oily, spicy food and reduce processed food. Eat early and less at night giving sufficient time for the food to digest by the next morning. Avoid drinking water when you are eating--small sips are ok. Most important is to eat slowly and chew well. The mind needs to be stress free. Do the practice I told you. Only if constipation is very severe a mild laxative can be taken under supervision. Be determined to transform your life despite challenges. My favourite affirmation is "God is physically, mentally, emotionally, spirituall healing and transforming me. Thank you God for meeting all my needs" Best wishes. S r. Counsellor.

My depression is down to having to live under a government and forced to function by their rules. God created us organic and certian organisations have tampered with our food supplies :bombarded us with chemicals and toxins. There are lots of reasons why depression is on the increase. Also technology harms the human:polluted cities :we have also been taken away from nature forced to live in these cities :i feel calm next to tree's: our basic needs have been stripped which all the above and more that there is not time to write about is causing depression and other illnesses. Lol thank you governments for causing more harm than good i ssy x

I’m interested to know why depression is becoming so common now compared to 50 years ago. My friend suggests that young people are constantly on I pads and social media but what about older people..is it the fast pace of life or even the food we eat..my grandparents grew up in the early 20th Century and it seems that mental health problems existed but depression was rare..was it due to exertion and physical exercise. Still not sure why there’s a huge increase in depression..is it because celebrity worship has replaced religion ??

I don't agree with the perspective that, for example, depression "costs billions in lost productivity", because this assumes that the current state of our society is separate from, and could exist without, rampant depression among individuals. I believe depression is more an illness of society than it is of the individual (meaning not a contagion, but an emergent property of societal organization). More generally, I think a focus on "surviving" and other materialistic results is misguided. Depression questions the value of surviving and other materialistic results, so by focusing on that outcome we are explicitly ignoring and discounting the perspective of the patient, viewing them as a definitionally irrational. I think this is wrong. If depression is an illness of society, the treatment should be societal, but this is not something we can even conceive of anymore, especially in the West, where we essentially believe that, as Thatcher said, "there is no such thing as society", and any attempt to shape something called "society" is considered almost by definition evil ("communist", "fascist", or "collectivist" - it's all the same now).

@chgofirefighter
@chgofirefighter 2 жыл бұрын
It’s all in the mind, if you believe there’s no cure then you’re right, but if you believe there’s a cure, again you’re right. You are what you think, but suicide isn’t the solution. Nutrition is the key to many of our ailments, in fact nutrition can heal the body, mind and soul. Potatoes not Prozac, is a good book. Try to eat a bake potato 🥔 with its skin before bed, see what happens.

@@chgofirefighter @chgofirefighter - LOL! Do you actually believe people, including myself, haven't tried all these things? Depression is much more complicated than that. If it was that simple there would be no depressed people in this world. For example; for 45 years I believed there was a cure - Guess what? - I was wrong. As far as nutrition goes, unless you have a completely DEPLORABLE diet, & are nutrient deficient, changing your diet will not make any difference whatsoever. I know people who live on the street and ea out of garbage cans & they are not depressed.
@chgofirefighter
@chgofirefighter 2 жыл бұрын
@@montesa9136 nutrition is key and you don’t need to be rich, wealthy or in the streets to feed your body and mind the right supplements. I too suffer from depression, and supplants along with the right foods helps. Also, exercise, meditation, and changing your mindset. Is it easy? HELL NO! a big percentage of medical ailments relates to our lack of proper nutrients intake. But just because certain things don’t work out doesn’t mean you need to give up. Try, try and try again until you succeed… there’s books out there that can guide your nutritional intake, lots of water is needed too to hydrate the brain, omega 3’s etc change of scenery, etc yes some homeless people maybe be happy in the streets but are they truly? We don’t know but we can only assume. Life is a struggle, shit happens, life is fucking unfair but there’s always a way for the willing but if you refuse to take charge then ultimately that’s your fault. Nobody will do it for you unless you’re willing to do it for YOU! At the end, you’re the captain of your own boat and nobody else is.. best of luck to you

Depression is spiritual being connecting with people telepathically, against one's will. It bombards one with one's chain of bad memories to break someone's control barriers, and it feeds on one's energy- what I am saying is very true and real. Please fight it on thought level. you can do it. Bear in mind that it can bring you down through other affected people- pay attention to that :)

Monetizing depression is the wrong approach. It's goes to show the mentality those who who 'treat' it. Maybe the mental health industry should do some self examination of itself.
