Fun fact about James's campfire animation. He sits down on the log like he does in Silent Hill 2 after watching the videotape, looking down, hunched his back over and then looks up, looks around and sits up like he does when talking to Maria in the jail cell.

And the same with Jonathan, his is like Nancy's. He looks at his right hand instead, if you watched season 1 of Stranger Things you'll know he has a cut on his palm. He's looking at that

@Shyanna M I can't figure out if Cheryl's is referencing anything specific though -- but to be fair I can't think of an iconic image of her sitting down, other than the scene at the start of SH3 where she wakes up at the restaurant table, which doesn't really translate to a campfire pose. TBH I generally don't really vibe with how they have her hug herself here and in the lobby animation, I don't think it really matches her body language in SH3. It makes her look kind of timid. I guess it's to communicate that at this point she just wants to be left alone, less "uwu I'm scared" and more "can you not", lol.

Thank you for sharing this! Humorously, I didn't realize the Legendaries had their own unique animations, because I tested those that I owned, which happen to be the only ones that don't have their own animations 😂so I just assumed it applied to all of them.

I believe Jill sits the same in RE3 in the subway station talking to Mikhail. So I always imagine jill is talking to the other survivors and re assuring them and making a game plan. Her animation isn't like leon's where he is obviously out there and ready to protect. She always gave me a much more raw feeling of "this shit sucks but im gonna make it suck less for others" type of hero and that is why I am 100% okay with her sitting animation.

That's a great summary of her animation and I think you've described it well. I also haven't played the RE3 remake yet, so thanks for sharing that bit, I didn't know. The BHVR devs do a great job referencing the games with the RE characters.

I somehow never realized the campfire animations are survivor specific, thanks for highlighting that! I would personally rank these based on different criteria, I think a lot of the ones you put in D tier do a great job at subtly communicating the vibe and personality of the characters -- like Yoichi and Adam appearing to be deep in thought (as opposed to just zoning out) and Jeff just chilling but not in a haughty "idgaf" way like Nea. There's only so much you can do with a sitting down animation, after all. I agree that Leon and Quentin really stand out though.

Honestly, I had never paid attention until a friend of mine did a video on this topic a while back too, so I do not blame you for not realizing that before because I was the same way. And I can totally respect you for ranking them different looking at it that way. I do love how much personality they are able to bring out in these characters through their fireside animations. It's pretty impressive overall.

Great question, the only one you can control is as you said, the most recent takes that specific slot. The rest are random.

Vittorio's pose is the same as Adam's(the first man) in a famous Italian painting. It's incredible because he is THE first because he was taken before everybody else, so in a sense, he IS the first man.
