Been playing Cheryl(Alessa) since she came out and I totally agree that her animation is way to timid for being post SH3, if I recall she was pretty sick of everything after it all, though it could be post trauma that might be her reason for the animation "looking down and constantly needing to look around her" or maybe a bit of depression that she's lost in another hell after just getting out of one :3
@amandafalt Жыл бұрын
absolutely agree, i love her meeting up with douglas at the end of sh3 and going "dont you think blondes have more fun?" and flipping her hair. i wish bhvr wouldve kept the endgame version of her in the lobby animation

I don't think it's even really accurate to how she deals with the horror she faces DURING Silent Hill 3, where she's obviously disturbed but very good at standing up to the monsters and isn't shy about spitting venom at the human villains. If anything she strikes me as someone who would mask her fear and trauma with bravado instead of timidly retreating into herself like she's portrayed in DBD.
@fourfifty-eight5683 Жыл бұрын

I think with understanding how Zarina’s lore ends there were a few details you missed. The first was that she found Caleb’s old wrench in a gap on the wall of his old cell. This wrench was the last thing that Caleb held in his hands before stepping into the entity’s realm. Maybe with Zarina picking up Caleb’s old wrench that he left behind,she somehow summoned the entity. Which would be a cool theory that people can accidentally summon the entity by interacting with items that were special to the people that have already been taken. As for Zarina seeing visions of her dying father, this was a trick played by the entity to instill fear into Zarina, causing her to be “paralyzed” in fear and leaving her vulnerable to being taken by the entity, since the death of her father still haunts her after many years, which would make sense since the entity feeds off of people’s emotions. This happens shortly after she finds the Deathslinger’s old wrench which results in her being taken by the entity.
@theARoberts Жыл бұрын
This is a really great explanation, thank you for sharing. I can absolutely see the connection there between the wrench and it summoning the Entity and the Entity showing her her father so that she would be distracted at being taken. I think you're spot on there.

as a quentin main I'd like to highlight some other things that are great about him! 1. like with cheryl, the lore that was added to him both fits the movie and expands a bit on his character. in the movie, quentin is smart and quick on his feet. he does whatever is needed to survive and hes surprisingly smart for someone whose brain is slowly shutting down from lack of sleep. him coming up with that plan to make freddys habit of scratching along the walls against him was such a good idea and I think it fits him a lot. quentins anger and strong sense of justice is also very present here, and I think it was great that quentins temper was put in the spotlight bk I think that's a really interesting part of his character that isn't recognized much. he's so often characterized as this shy dorky twig of a man, when in actuality he's an athlete who is shy and dorky but also can gave a bad temper. the thing that brought him into the entity's realm was nothing freddy did, but rather quentin being so fucking enraged at him that it attracted the entity's attention 2. him being in the game has brought a lot of popularity to his character. i loved him in the movie, and I never even would've known of his existance if it weren't for dbd. I saw this scruffy little man that I thought looked really cool and bam now he's one of my favorite characters and I love him. noes 2010 is uh.... it's aight. but i only ever watch it for quentin lmao 3. the community of quentin mains is a strong one, we often refer to eachother as the council and do goofy shit with it and it's great. there's not many of us but I have gotten spared multiple times from killer quentin mains specifically because I was also one, and the few times I've seen another quentin in a lobby we are visibly excited to see eachother ingame. seeing another quentin for quentin mains is something special 4. this might be weird, but I think it's very nice that he's a csa survivor. you rarely see csa survivors in media, and when you do they're usually female. male csa survivors very much exist and it's alarmingly more common than you think. and as a csa survivor myself, it warms my heart to see my brothers represented the one thing I dislike though is that they couldn't get rights to kyle gallners face. quentins look and his face in the movie is one of my favorites things, I think its a perfect fit for his character. he seems to have a resting sad face, with his droopy eyes and slightly upturned eyebrows. his facial features are also very round and soft which, combined with his perpetually sad face, makes him very adorable to me. I really wish the ingame quentin was just as tiredly adorable as kyles portrayal in the movie
@theARoberts Жыл бұрын
I haven not seen the movie myself (it's on my list to watch, hopefully this year) so you have educated me greatly with this comment and made me appreciate his character more. For Zarina’s lore, she found what is known as an Overlap or a weak point in the multiverse caused by the Entity pulling someone in. By interacting with the wrench, she caught the Entity’s attention and since the entity feeds on emotion, it shows people something that will make them emotional in order to prime them for the trials. It’s similar to Felix being lured into the fog by being shown an image of his father.

I'm fascinated by Dwight's lore and how it doesn't really match his perks, and have done a lot of introspection about him since I've written about him. In my mind, the way Dwight acts in the realm could not only be due to his finding a different niche-it may also be that he is driven by guilt. He views himself as a failure and doesn't want his friends to let anyone down the way he let everyone down back in his homeworld. If he sees someone lacking or struggling, then he wants to push them to succeed, in order for them to not become what he views himself as. I just think about this dork a lot. Also, yes, Nea is definitely The Entity.

Regarding the Jake's Perks they all worked really well when it was 2016 that is. Since back then the game was played more stealthily and the Killers didn't have many Info perks so they would use Spies from the shadows which Calm Spirit countered. Bill doesn't have a lot of cosmetics because when Valve made the deal with BHVR they only allowed them to have cosmetics you can't buy with Auric Cells. Seeing how greedy BHVR is, it only makes sense that they wouldn't put too much ressources into it. Stake Out by itself is indeed pretty useless but it can very good if you combine it with some other perks like Hyperfocus or Fast Track.
@theARoberts Жыл бұрын
Ah, didn't realize that was in the terms of the deal. It would totally make sense then why they would not invest a ton of dev time into it. My dislike for Bill is he's Loud AF when injured. I use Iron Will with no Exhaustion perks on him. I've said this before. Boons are the opposite of a Hex. So, as you said Roberts, If you have your Hex deactivated via a Boon, snuffing it should reactivate the perk.
@theARoberts Жыл бұрын
Ah yes, that's a good point about Bill, he is pretty loud. Tough when you have to run an okay perk taking up a perk slot just to offset an imbalance in the audio of a character. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about Boons/Hexes. I really love High Risk, High Reward perks or other things that make you make decisions that are tradeoffs. One of the reasons I love playing Plague, because once infected Survivors have to choose between two bad choices. So to me, being able to eliminate a strong perk for the Killer while also being able to activate a strong perk for four Survivors, all in one move, is OP.

Commenting as I watch: -Stake out can be great in gen-oriented builds, like with hyperfocus, for example. By itself, I just enjoy the extra bit of BP that the great skillchecks give. It's nice to earn a bit more without having to find teammates to do gens with when using prove thyself (and splitting up to do gens is the most efficient and effective way to repair, regardless of it being slower repair progression per gen.) -I don't think you'll be seeing a whole lot of boons after tomorrow, so the comment about balancing them in a way that makes the survivors choose between cleansing a hex or booning it could become a non-issue. -What I've come to believe after hearing from many different Haddie enthusiasts is that her white streak probably came about after her first traumatic experience because of her connection to the Ravages/the Overlap, and possibly the Rift as well. This was the first thing that happened to her that signified that she wasn't normal and had supernatural connections. I feel like future (minor) tome pieces could have the potential to explain it better. -As for seeing less of Renato and Thalita after their initial release, I think this is mostly due to the lack of cosmetics they have at the moment. Not a lot of potential for mixing and matching right now, so I can see more people picking them back up once they get more cosmetics (like me! super excited for their new tome cosmetics!)
@theARoberts Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the suggestion for Stakeout pairing, I definitely was only thinking about it in isolation so I'll have to give that a try! Thanks! I agree that boons will be less frequent as of today. That said, it's more of a matter of principle for me than actual gameplay, I just don't like that it's nothing but negatives for the Killer and positives for the Survivor, I want them to have to choose 😂 This is the best explanation I've heard yet for Haddie's hair and along the lines of what I was assuming, but much better explained. Thank you! Makes total sense on the cosmetics for Renato and Thalita, hopefully they'll get several more quickly!

They are always doing gens, looping, safe unhooking, healing, protecting, pallet saving and many other acts in the same game. Every Adam, no matter the MMR, will have 25-40k blood points in end game. When it comes to tapp I actually think his perks are really good, Detectives hunch is just a really good perk when it comes to gems and finding hex totems Tenacity is one of my favorite cause I run a wiggle build(which I think should get a buff) it actually works well with flip flop and unbreakable especially for sluggers Stakeout can really be good if you combine it with hyper focus ( gives you the ultra value on gens)

I almost always use Stake Out. I think the 1% does matter in the long run, since this is a game about time management, plus you get more skill checks when you hit a great skill check than a normal one, meaning it's somewhat a farming perk imo. It's also pretty much a visual terror radius indicator as long as you don't have 4 stacks and it applies to healing too, always giving a huge jump there. Of course you can pair it with other perks too which make this perk even stronger

Tapp main: Steak out is actually a good perk but not as effective as the other perks we have now that boost gen speed but however it's still very good. It can act as a micro version of spine chill while also decreases time spent on something. When healing a teammate it's very good as you can clearly see a jump in progression and that also goes for gens. 1% might not seem that much having bunch of tokens stacked up it's really good. Every second counts on DBD and having faster progression means you have more time to spend on stuff that isn't gen work because u already got that boost of progression from steak out. Detective hunch is only good for new players and totem haunting. it was mainly used in the past to remove NOED before activation but now it's just a guide. Tenacity is a lovely perk and prob the best one in tapp kit. On it self it's sort of useless but if a teammate distracts a killer for even 3 seconds you can make so much distance with the perk that if the killer doesn't know that you have tenacity they wouldn't think that you have crawled that far. Paired with adrenaline it's absolutely game changing for you're self. If a killer decides to slug you for the 4k and chases the other survivor, you can easily crawl somewhere near the exit gate and camp their until the killer shuts hatch. when hatch is shut you can get up from adrenaline and escape through exit gate hopefully. It's an amazing perk and can be argued that it can be better than unbreakable that is only if you have teammates.

Tenacity paired with Unbreakable and/or No Mither is actually a super good build. I don't use it a lot because personally, I don't care for No Mither (I suck at looping and getting away from the killer, so I always get downed super easily with it on) but for people who are good at looping and play altruistically, Tenacity paired with Unbreakable and/or No Mither is a fun and useful build. I almost always run Detective's Hunch, as well, because doing gens is typically my main objective, so knowing where to go next is always extremely useful, because not only does it show you uncompleted generators around the map, it also shows you chests and totems/hexes, which is extremely useful if the killer brings a hex totem; if you have Detective's Hunch, you can almost always find the hex totems and cleanse them very quickly. I use Circle of Healing a lot, as well, but it's being nerfed into the abyss pretty soon, which I am unhappy about, so I really hope the devs will buff Circle of Healing again in the future. I also use Adrenaline, Boil Over, Windows of Opportunity, Lithe, Off the Record, Deja Vu, Borrowed Time and Unbreakable quite a bit. I almost never use Decisive Strike, Dead Hard or We're Gonna Live Forever, but I occasionally do, and if I'm doing custom matches with my friends (which are a lot of fun, by the way), I'll use Left Behind so I can screw my friends over in the match and escape through Hatch at the last minute, which is horrible to do in public matches, but hilarious to do among friends. I think good starter perks for beginning players are Adrenaline, Technician, Urban Evasion and Inner Healing or Sprint Burst. I really love discussing perks within Dead by Daylight, possibly more than I love discussing lore, which is a pretty high bar, considering it's pretty much all I talk about to anyone who will listen to me. So, thank you ARoberts for making these videos, I really enjoy watching them, and thank you to everyone in the comments who appreciates Dead by Daylight and all the effort put into making it an enjoyable game. Here's to hoping this great game's fanbase will never disappear, despite whatever the developers decide to do with it. Hope everyone and their family had a great Easter.

what do you consider as toxic as i often get called toxic for basically sticking with my mates and saving them with a beamer when they get tunneled out or are already on dead hook ~rebecca main
@theARoberts Жыл бұрын
So I'm not surprised you get called toxic for that because a lot of players would rather accuse the other side of being toxic than own that they made a mistake or played poorly themselves, but I wouldn't call what you described toxic at all, just fair gameplay. To me toxic play is more when the Survivor is playing in a way that is clearly and intentionally meant to frustrate the Killer, i.e. chaining flashlight stuns, T-bagging at pallets, using Boil Over/Boon Exponential combo on second floors without hooks, etc. I will also say that I still respect that form of "toxic" gameplay and it can even be used strategically to win trials. It can even sometimes be fun as the Killer to go against Survivors who play like that if you adopt the right mindset. So in all honesty, if it's only gameplay-related, I have no objective issue with it, I was mostly just having fun with what I said. True toxicity is when people take it out of the game into the end game chat or in DM's, etc., and attack the person themselves. That I stand against.

Hmm, never really thought about it. Let's see. Dwight: I have nothing against Dwight in General, and I love Dwelf. I dislike that he gets so many cosmetics, especially those weird ones. I get he's the poster boy, but give other characters cosmetics too. I absolutely HATE it when people call him "Dweet." My friend does it, sometimes multiple times in a row, and I want to end the call every time I hear it. Meg: She was the first character I played and had on P3, and I like most of her cosmetics (in fact, I own all of them. I got them because of my Vacation money from work. It was on a card, and I could only use it in the store, so I bought many Steam cards. The same goes for Nea and Jake for some reason, I don't even really play Jake). As for Dislikes, hmm, I met some pretty traumatizing Megs. Most are chill, but occasionally I run into this super sweaty tryhard Meg. (Also, she gets too many cosmetics, give some to the newer ones!) Claudette: I like her lore, and some of her cosmetics are super nice. Similarly to Dwight and Meg, she gets too many cosmetics. I roll my eyes every time I see a new release for Claudette. Also, hiding Claudettes. Jake: He seems like a guy I would get along with. I'm not an Off-the-grit person, but I like calm people, especially when I hike through the woods. However, I dislike his perks now. They could have cut Iron Will to 75%, but why the heck did they have to add the bit with Exhaustion? Nea: My favorite female character. I am a Nea main, and she means a lot to me. I mained her from the moment Meg hit P3. I always liked Nea's cosmetics more. As for Dislike, why the frick has she linked cosmetics? Doesn't make sense with her. Let me combine other cosmetics with them. Laurie: ... I ... uh, I guess it's cool that she was the first licensed character. But I really don't like Laurie ... Her screams are annoying, and her injured sounds are too. Ace: I like the guy; I also like that he is naturally so quiet. Yeah, the grin looks a bit unnatural, so I dislike that. Bill: I like Bill. Especially when they are these hyper altruistic Gods. What I dislike is that sometimes I get Baby Bills that hide in a corner for an entire hook stage. Feng: She is cool. I like that she sees the Entity's realm as a challenge. I also love her streamer girl cosmetics. They have pretty colors. I dislike that many people play relatively toxic. Also, I'm not the biggest fan of her scream. David: David is my man. I love him, even with all his flaws (he has none) and all the questionable things he did (he never did anything wrong). Next to Evan, David is my favorite person in the game. I could never be mad at David. (He's perfect.) The thing I dislike is that he doesn't have a bunny suit. I swear to the Entity, if Feng gets another Bunny cosmetic and David (and Trickster) doesn't, I'm gonna be mad! Quentin: I like that he got his face remodeled. Uhh ... I don't like his old face? Tapp: Tapp cool? I had some amazing Tapps that rescued me. I can't say I dislike things about him. Kate: Her lore is cool. But what I love most is her winter cosmetic, where the little ice picks swing around. Love it. I don't know why, but I don't like her updated face. I'm less invested in her since she got remodeled. Adam: He's cool. I like Adam, I had a phase where I played no one but him. I dislike that he has so few cosmetics. Jeff: It's hard ... I don't know, I guess I like that he knows the Legion??? He's too loud even while normally walking. I don't like playing him. I also don't really care about him. Jane: Jane has some awesome cosmetics. But I also don't really care for her lore. Ash: The hand puppet is cool. Other than that, I don't really care. I never watched anything Evil Dead related. Nancy: For a time, my friend and I would play as Alpha Nancy and Omega Nancy. And we had some really good times. We pulled some awesome plays off, and I'm usually a potato, to that was special to me. I'm sad Nancy is out of the game. Steve: Scoops Ahoi Steve is pretty cool, with sunglasses. I can't say many negative things about Steve. I had the occasional encounter with a weird Steve, but yeah, not much else. Yui: She's great. I love her lore. And I like that the Hachimaki thing is in all of her cosmetics. I don't really know what negative things I could say about her. (Most characters coming now are kinda meh to me, so I will wrap it up quickly. The most negative things are that I don't really care about these characters.) Zarina: I like her lore, and I love her onesie outfit. But she's still kinda forgettable to me. Cheryl: I like that she has so many Legendary cosmetics. This is how BHVR should use linked cosmetics (not what they do with Nea). Nothing much to say negatively about her. Felix: Ah, my fellow German man. He gets plus points for that alone. I can't hate him. I still remember how happy I was to get a German character. He has one or two weird cosmetics. Other than that, there's not much that I dislike. Élodie: Cool idea, but overall a meh character to me. I just don't care. Yun-Jin: I like that she is so different from all the other survivors. She has Girlboss vibes, and I love it. I am not a fan of her scream or her injured sounds. Jill: Cool, I guess, but I never played RE, so I just don't care about her. Leon: Same problem with Leon. I don't care about him. I typically play Carlos. Mikaela: Uh ... hm, interesting backstory, I guess. But I don't like her much in general. Jonah: Entirely forgettable to me. Uh, I guess I like some of his cosmetics. Yoichi: Sorry, I constantly forget he exists. Haddie: Who? I never read her lore or the tome lore. I don't care about her. Ada: Same with all the Resi Characters: I don't care! Rebecca: Stay away from me, demon. I don't know what it is, but I cannot stand Rebecca. Her one perk is pretty cool, but other than that, there is nothing I like about her. Vittorio: I love him! After David, he's my favorite male survivor. He has two shirtless cosmetics, which gives him a big boost. I like his lore and connection to the Knight. This one perk is meh. Thalita: I don't care. I started leveling her, but I just don't see a point in doing it. Renato: I played him exactly once because everyone was Renato; I never leveled him up, never clicked on him again. I don't care. Uh, yeah, I really don't have many positive things to say about some of the later survivors. They are getting too many. I try to rotate with survivors, but I typically play with Nea/David, sometimes Meg/Feng/Yui/Yun-Jin/Vittorio, and that's about it. And since I am only occasionally playing DBD now, I don't have the time to even look at them more closely.

I love hearing all of your opinions. I like how a lot of them were similar to mine or at least other things I could have said too (with the exception of the RE characters 😂 I'm a huge RE fan!) Really appreciate you taking the time to write all that up!

Deliverance on 2nd hook state would make it easily the best perk in the game

That's fair, I just hate that it can be completely negated by unfortunate circumstances

I actually kind of disagree when it comes to the usage of Tapp's perk "Stake Out". For those that don't want to play the same perks again and again a perk build with "Stake Out" + "Fogwise" + "Fast Track" + "Hyperfocus" can ne quite useful for doing generators and keeping track of the killer. (it's still not the best perk build but a good optional choice). Keep your videos coming ARoberts I really enjoy watching them :)

Hey, I appreciate that suggestion. I definitely short sold Tapp's perks based on the response so I'm excited to try out some of these perk combos y'all have been suggesting! Thank you!

Felix's Chris outfit is Resident Evil V The Christ outfit for Leon, is Resident Evil I-IV Also, wit the Ada cosmetics, I believe it was explained that the entity can actually go through different times and space [ explain how else we have people from like 1300s and 2000s without using Time Travel/Warping ]

I did know that about Felix/Chris' outfits, just forgot to mention it. I still think Felix looks like a better version of Chris 😂it's less based on the outfit itself and more on the quality of how it is rendered in game. That would make total sense for why the RE2 Ada cosmetics are in the game. It's been my understanding that every cosmetic actually represents a different version of the character from a different universe within the DBD multiverse. But my issue is that usually the default matches the lore (i.e. RE2 Leon in both default and lore) whereas Ada's lore is RE4 and her default is RE2.

I use Tenacity a lot. It's a fun perk and it punishes killers for slugging.

Well, stake out is nice to pair with other perks like Hyperfocus. Hyperfocusing a gen with 6 stacks thanks to stake out is pretty nice in tight situations in-game.

I appreciate that! I definitely need to give it a try, I'm honestly not as great yet at seeing how Survivor perks can pair well together, so suggestions like this help!

As a bill main I do be altruistic and you are right he needs more cosmetics
@theARoberts Жыл бұрын
I'm glad to hear you play him that way and that you agree on the cosmetics. I love the few he has, he just needs more!
@prodigizethis Жыл бұрын
Agree with you completely on Adam's "Deliverance". It should work on 1st or 2nd stage. The game needs to get rid of the struggle stage. It's pointless and annoying. Just make both stages like the first. And while I'm at it... DBD really really needs to make an audio option that only mutes the hook screams. They are loud and ridiculous and serve no purpose. Most players pause the screen when being hooked, to muffle the scream sounds a bit. This game has so much potential, but it has been out for 7 years and still has so many base game issues that were never addressed.

Glad I'm not alone on thinking Deliverance should work on both stages. I'm honestly okay with the struggle stage myself, but it would be nice if there was more you could do with certain perks like Deliverance. It was in a recent update I believe that many of the screams got longer. Now it's kind of weird because sometimes the last way too long and other times they don't.

I dont play tapp but i do use hyperfocus/stakeout/Fasttrack as a combo when playing surv and its really fun getting gens done faster because of it. Stakeout is EXTREMELY Situational though
@theARoberts Жыл бұрын
I've heard the hyperfocus/stakeout combo several times now. Thank you for sharing all that, I will definitely have to give those perk combos a try!
