Survivor: Outwit, Outplay, Outlast This guy: Outsocialize, or lose Cmon, Survivor is a lot more than just relationships and jury management. You can't just cast aside idols, immunity wins, threat levels, etc. Do you just skip to the last five minutes of every episode because all you care about is the drama of tribal? If that's the case, I guess some of your picks make sense... Edit: You also care way too much about people being in the majority. If they're in the majority and not in the top two or three spots of that alliance, they're just a goat. Goats shouldn't win for sure

G.C. showed promise but lost motivation and asked to be voted out, Jacqui showed a great game but got swap-screwed, and Ace was like Malcolm where he is awesome at the game but aligns with players he should not mix with, and thus that alliance that does not mix well with him causes his demise while they outlast him. The merge still had good players like Kenny and Corrine, plus Bob played a top-tier social game, slightly above average physical game, and while on the surface he appeared to be lacking strategically we can see the social game lead a few strategic moves like tricking Randy into screwing himself. Bob deserves more credit as a winner than he gets.

Chances are if someone’s trying to get you out you’re clearly playing the best game, and a lot of times because of that the best players don’t always win. Case in point Malcolm in Phillipines or Devens in Edge of Extinction, they clearly were playing the best game and would’ve won had they won one more immunity or in Devens case won the fire making challenge. If you need idols to get to the end...find the idols and get yourself to the end.

Devens is a laughable example. He had zero control throughout the whole season and was eliminated twice in 38 days.

It's not "playing the game too early", everyone is playing from the start. It's playing too HARD too early. That creates a target on your back. You can’t just throw away some parts of the game. Idols, advantages, Immunity and jury management is part of the game. Idols are some of the most entertaining parts of the game. Advantages are huge and playing them correctly, is especially important. Immunity... omg immunity is not only very difficult to get, but prevents you from being voted out. It is in no way a weakness. Most of the time on TV they say “to bad so and so got immunity” because it makes better TV, it does not always mean they actually wanted that person out! Bitter jury members are a huge part of the game. If let’s say Russell we hated by everyone, why would anyone vote for him? I wouldn’t, because it is a social game! The people who are not liked will never win, because it’s a game where the outcast have the final say. It’s hard to have an objective POV. Sandra wanting Russell out was not a bad strategy, he was playing the game hard, I would want him out too!

Not to say playing idols isn't impressive in its own right, but I am someone who puts more weight on the social side of the game so the former impresses me more. I also would not have voted for Mike. He did pretty well under the circumstances to keep himself afloat but I still think Carolyn played better as a whole as she was ALWAYS in some degree of control.

If you can fight off your back from after being in trouble whether it be through finding idols, winning immunity, or talking your way out of danger, that’s the definition of Outwit-Outplay-Outlast. Of course if someone is taking charge of the game and completely controlling what happens throughout they should win, but to penalize someone for winning immunities or finding idols (both of which is part of the game so take advantage of it if you can) is just moronic. I really think this is an example of how much of the social game we miss out on the show. The social part of the game is truly played throughout the entirety of the game, and you need social game for jury votes. We just don't see a lot fo the day-to-day interaction, which is what a ton of jurors may base their votes on.

Aside from what many other commenters have mentioned, it irks me when people use "number of times voted correctly" as a metric to describe how good/bad someone is as a player of Survivor. Sometimes, voting "incorrectly" on purpose can be helpful to someone's game in the long run. Sandra did it with Rupert in Pearl Islands, Bob did it a ton in the early merge of Gabon, and other players have used voting "incorrectly" as a strategy to make them appear more strategically aloof than they actually are. Sometimes, if you want someone's vote at the FTC, you have to prove that even when they went home, you refused to write their name down. Voting "incorrectly" can be a clever social strategy and it's disingenuous to say someone's a bad player, just because their votes didn't align with the majority. Sometimes, your best interests may not align with the majority's. There's a reason why you don't often gear finalists boasting about how many times the person they targeted went home. Immunity challenges and idols are a part of the game for the reason, and winners who win using this mechanics are just making use of what the game has to offer. It's "outwit, outplay, outlast", and not "outsocialize, outnumber, out-dominate". Most winners rely on these fundamental mechanics, whether directly or indirectly. So it's disingenuous to say a win wasn't as good or deserved because it relied on a natural part of the game.

I understand your thinking on who should win but I like to look more on just power. Who was the biggest underdog? Who made a huge move that impacted the game? Who survived tribal after tribal each week? Who worked harder to win? All of these questions I believed you neglected because you focused on power and power only. Ok genuine question: why do you have challenges so much? It’s the only staple of the series that has been in every episode and gives you always a hail mary you can try to pull off. Survivor would be much more boring without the challenges especially in the post merge and I think going on an immunity run is a completely valid strategy if you would get voted out otherwise. My biggest example of this is Vecepia’s final 4 win in marquesas, where she brought a journal as her luxury item to prepare for fallen comrades so she kinda based her game around winning that immunity. Also I think playing from the bottom is very respectable even if you weren’t super strategic throughout.

Survivor is Outwit, Outplay, Outlast. While the social game is a big component of the Outwit part, idols and immunities is a vital aspect of the Outplay bit, because if you are on the outs, it’s pretty impressive that you managed to stay in the game. Very silly having a beef against immunities and idols.

Needing idols and then getting them and playing them correctly or needing immunity challenge and winning them dosent mean you dont deserve to win. In fact it makes you more deserving. Because if you win immunity when you need it to save yourself that's a great plus on your resime. Also correctly playing a idop for yourself or someone else is a great and sometimes hard to pull off move. Also something I disagre with even more is the fact that you think people who were in the minority dont deserve to win. They deserve to win more because they were more alone and had to fight harder to get to the end and so in my opinion when they get there they deserve it more. Ecspecaly more then some goat that was dragged to the end by an alliance that had the numbers. So i definitely disagree with your criteria.

Playing an idol successfully doesn’t get the target off ur back, rather it immunizes you for one vote. If you are relying on these luck-based, round to round factors to save you each week you have not shifted the target elsewhere and thus have no control. Given that an ideal game is one where a player controls all of the votes and gets to the end in a position where they will win, it is very sub optimal to need immunity to stay in the game.

Thanks for your upload. Obviously, no one will match your choices exactly. That being said, the game has been changing season by season and therefore the criteria needed to establish the 'true' winner changes as well. IMHO each iteration of the game must be judged against the Survivor's mantra - did the winner "Outwit and Outplay" his/her rivals with the obvious "Outlast" already answered by virtue of being in the final tribal. The list of winners seemingly rewards the social over the physical - somewhat of a paradox when considering the accepted lexicon of the word 'survivor'. Lastly, I as a fan thought Ozzy epitomized these virtues as a non-winner.

Immunities are an important part of the game and I don't hold it against someone if they need an immunity or two to get to the end. The only exceptions are people like Ben and Mike, who needed several immunities in a row (and a nonsense fire challenge in Ben's case) to get to the end.

Edit: I finally finished watching every season, so here is my vote for the winners, I will include final jurors as well to spice it up a bit Borneo: Leaning Richard, if Rudy was on FTC instead of Rich, I would vote for Rudy, but without Kelly, it would definitely be a lot in the air, comes down to FTC performance of Rich and Rudy. Australian Outback: Leaning Tina, if Keith was on final tribal, I would vote for whoever he was up against, Tina or Colby no matter what Africa: Ethan as a locked vote, if Lex was on the seat however, it would come down on the combination. In Lex v Ethan, I would be leaning Ethan because of how emotionally erratic Lex was with some people, in Lex v Kim J. however, I vote for Lex as a locked vote Marquesas: Vecepia as a locked vote, if Kathy was on the seat however, I would vote for Kathy against both combinations, although in Vecepia’s case, I would be open to vote for Vecepia depending on how good her FTC performance is compared to Kathy’s unlike in Neleh’s case Thailand: Very tough, I would have voted for Brian, but if Ken disclosed what happened between the two, my vote is for Clay. Leaning Aubry, but also be very willing to vote for Michele, if it was the Aubry v Michele v Cydney scenario, it would heavily depend on who can articulate their game better between the three of them, I would never vote Tai in any scenario in this season though Millennials vs Gen X: Adam as a locked vote in current scenario, if David was on the seat however, it would be a locked David vote no matter the combination Game Changers: Sarah as a locked vote, can’t see myself ever voting Culpepper, and Troyzan played a nothing game this season. If Tai was on the jury, I would still lean Sarah, but if she is not there I would be very open to vote for Tai Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers: Very tricky. Leaning Ben, but also very willing on voting for Chrissy. If Devon was there, I would be still leaning Ben, but also be very open to vote for Devon. Ryan is the only person that would never get my vote no matter the combination. In the Devon v Chrissy v Ryan however, it depends on who articulated their game better between Devon and Chrissy Ghost Island: Dom as a locked vote, Angela does not matter overall since she is never getting my vote, if Dom is not there however, it is a locked Wendell vote David v Goliath: I still can’t decide between Mike and Nick, but I would probably be leaning Nick, but also incredibly open for voting Mike, does not matter if Kara is on the seat since I would always be voting between the two guys as a locked vote for one if the other is not on the seat, even if I do like Kara Edge of Extinction: Very tough between Gavin and Chris, I would be probably lean Gavin, but also be very willing in voting for Chris, if Rick is on the seat however, he has my jury vote as locked no matter the combination Island of the Idols: Tommy as a locked vote, but if Lauren is there, my vote is locked for Lauren if Tommy is not on the seat. If both are on the seat however, I would probably lean Lauren, but also very open in voting for Tommy Winners at War: Tony as a locked vote, does not matter if Sarah is there WITH Tony, if Tony is not there, it becomes a locked Sarah vote 41: Very tough, I would be probably leaning Erika, but also open in voting Xander or Heather, Deshawn really has no shot for my vote. If Erika is not there, I would be probably toggling for Xander, but Heather is also not out of the picture 42: Leaning Maryanne. Even if I do think Mike played a MUCH stronger game, he just kept constantly getting outplayed by Maryanne at FTC. Romeo is never getting my vote no matter the situation. Jonathan is also not really a factor either, since he had very poor jury management. My vote will always be between Maryanne and Mike. 43: This final 3 sucks ass. They all have VERY flawed games. Owen has a compelling underdog story, but It is not enough to justify me voting for him. Gabler is a tough one, since from the looks of it, he was more so riding the coattails of Jesse and Cody, that being said, he does have good social awareness. Cassidy played a better game positional-wise and had a bit more agency than Gabler and Owen, but lost all agency after about the final 6 or so. I would have probably voted for Gabler here, but also open in voting for Cassidy. If Jesse is there, he gets my vote now matter who he is up against

In my opinion in importance Survivor now is 40 percent social, 30 percent strategic, 15 percent physical( I include idols in this) and 15 percent luck. I feel like just because you used an idol and win couple immunity doesn’t discount your win or game.

There are many flaws to this judgment Being completely honest I can 100% respect being in the majority but I mean come on if you were competing in an immunity challenge would you not try to win also using and immunity idol takes an enormous amount of social and strategical play it can rely on you strategically reading the room and your social connections Don't say that your game is flawed for needing immunity wins or idols because needing it just shows your threat level. You aren't a threat because you don't deserve to win
