Hi Susan, I have a true, inside, interesting story to tell you about Barbara Walters that I have not seen anywhere. In 1976, I worked for a company that was hired to furnish Harry Reasoner's office in the new ABC headquarters on West 66th Street in New York City. When we came to work in his office-to-be (it took us a few days), we went through a longer newsroom and found two offices at the end. We were told that the office to the right was to be Harry Reasoner's office, and the one to the left was going to be Barbara Walters' office. She was just hired by ABC from NBC for a handsome salary. AS we prepared our tools getting ready to work, we saw other workers working in one corner of Harry Reasoner's office. They were building a one foot by one foot addition (that was not there before) into the corner of the room. We could not see any need, or any sense in this building work, so we started to inquire. We were told that Barbara Walters found that Harry Reasoner's room was bigger than hers by one square foot, and, being very sensitive to her new position as an equal co-anchor, she demanded that his room's size be decreased by one square foot. And that is what we saw. A few months later, I was flying on a business trip to Boston. Across the aisle from me sat Harry Reasoner himself. I told him the story of his room being made smaller. He answered that he had never heard about that. Now you know it, too. Yigal Zohar (h)561-752-8425, (c)561-714-6881, zoharyigal@gmail.com

Barbara Walters was awful to Dolly Parton.

Not really. I think Walters asked Dolly questions that the public wanted to know. She gave Dolly a forum to really present herself in-depth to a larger audience. Dolly must not have objected because she did another interview with Walters five years later.
