Welcome to another episode of Scrap Mechanic Gameplay! Today we continue one of the crazier projects I've decided to try out and we run into both success and failure!

This is part 2 of the suspended mountain base, and I was able to make some progress with building the suspended bridges connecting from the mountain to the base. But I'm having a bit of trouble with the lower one, so let me know if you have any ideas!
There are a LOT of obstacles and difficulties to making this work the way I want, so I am reaching out for advice and feedback. watch the video and let me know if you have any ideas on how to do what I want to do better!

Don't literally hook it on. Instead weld a protruded end of the last bridge piece onto a free bearing on the structure.

Your theory sounds good. Go with it. and we'll test the accuracy of this physics engine. Might I suggest guide pillars as a fallback method if the physics engine decides it should fall.

I agree with Peekofwar. Go with the timber method but use guild rails and thrusters so the bridge doesn't fall too fast and glitch thru the platform.

Oh yeah, that too. The collision events that are not completely accurate because it cannot test every tick due to non-optimized physics engine......

Doing vertical is a great idea. but here is the thing. the controllers arent 100% stiff. gravity will take over, even with the controllers. you will want scaffoldings stopping it from falling over. Another thing is that when you have it fall you might want to use the claw flyer again to make sure it gets on the hook because just having it fall and land perfectly is unlikely. Best series by far!

what you should do is build a 2by 2 block tower and build a lift like car with a hook and then have it bend at the wanted height and make the hook move 90 degrees backward and when ready to put the bridge in place on the platform build a beam and it should just slide onto it! btw continue doing these vedios i like your vids!! you make my day! pls like to him to see!!!!!

Instead of doing a vertical, I feel like having it at a 45 degree angle would let you place your hook better before the release.

first build the bridge straight till you reach the base then make the bridge vertically and join the bridge together to the base

Build a pole down the platform through the bridge hook on the floor (Use a car and pull it to place ) than use thruster to push the bridge up and than hook the bridge from below the platforn

scrap man put a wooden pileup to the height of the plat form on land and then weld it to the pole. break the block and then let it call down the pool. that way it is secured all the way.

just use controllers to make ur bridge bend. just build it so it bends to your base. then disable the controllers.

Build it so it falls from the top

First you need put some horizontal "sticks" to the sides of the bridge's end, forming somethig like this: |====|====|====|================ (top view) then put 2 pilars in the tree side, so they can catch the "sticks" when the bridge is betwen them. next weld the bridge to the house side, and let it fall betwen the pilars. and finaly you can delete the "sticks" until you feel it got the right angle. To make a more stable fall you can add a heavy and wide end, to prevent it also to tilt.

You can place the lift on the middle part so you should use the lift to move the bridge up 20 blocks then secure it there and make a new platform for the lift so you can lift it another 20 blocks.

Take the bridge you have now and slowly step it up using the lift. Go up, put some bracing in, go up, brace, up, brace... that should work and be controlled.

Make like you did for the first bridge, with thrusters, but upward, it should work. ( attach the bridge with a hook, stop it with a pole, straight the pole upward to the house platform, add thrusters to your bridge for pulling it up,thrust and hook them ) Or do like you said it at the end, it might work too. Continue to work on it ! We like it ! It will be awesome to watch you create an suspended house !

Scrapman listen!i think that you should build the bridge from the wooden base, now if you're thinking that how are you gonna hookit to the tree when you have finished building the bridge from the base then at the end of the bridge make a BIG BIG hook big enough to get the tree inside of the hook! Scrapman you could build a skinny pillar up from the lower part, hook it on there, and then pull it up to the top while it's hooked onto that, kinda like a guide, then you could attach it to the top once it gets up to the top platform. Just an idea. And if you built it vertically you would have to put controllers on it to keep it from folding on itself, but that sounds like a good idea Edit: someone down below had the same idea, but to also use thrusters to push it up the guide, which I think is also a good idea

make a big ship, with the hook on the front, all up thrusters on the middle and in the back put weigth and down thrusters, it Will work, you can build thrusted gyroscopes to make it even more stable

A flying crane has 6 degrees of freedom, any combination of which can go in directions you don't want the bridge to go. Build in some constraints that restrict the bridge to just two degrees of freedom, say, a monorail connecting the endpoint of the bridge to its destination and tall fences that keep the bridge sections from bending horizontally. Then do like you did with the first bridge: attach thrusters as needed to lift and tension the endpoint until it rides the rail all the way up, and then delete the thrusters once the endpoint is hooked.

You should make The 3 bridges supported on solid blocks first, Then try welding the base on to the bridges

Combined some of the ideas here. 1. Build the bridge out to the edge of the platform, and then up 2. Build a pole from the support bridge up to the foundation and a loop to guide the bridge up the pole. 3. Use thrusters to force bridge up pole to base

ok i like weird stuff, so heres a idea: make a seat on that bridge and instead of using a flyer to control the bridge use the bridge itself by putting thrusters under the bridge maybe a more realistic idea, instead of welding it onto the the tree, weld that same thing to the beam pillar thing on the base and the other side will be almost reaching the tree but only to high you need to make it fall onto a secure pillar ... what could go wrong right?

You should build a tower from the cliff to make it higher than the base, and you could wait for the full release of pistons to force the bridge to where you need it. :3

build a long bridge across from the base to the tree, then go up vertically to the bridge and build along the bridge, you'll have to overbuild and then remove some bits but it should be alot easier

you can build from the base to the tree and hook the bridge to the tree like you did with the 1st bridge... the tree is the pole and you lock the bridge around teh tree ... i dont know if you will understand lol

You could make a crane or something to that effect, to lift the end of the bridge to the house. It would be tedious but more reliable than flying method

you can connect the bridge from the base to a pillar behind the tree and when it's in place make a ring around the tree and release the bridge from the pillar.

You could build it vertictical and put a hook on the end and put trusters faceing torge the base then turn them full power and then turn them one then take of the suports and then control the trusters 👍

build it from the bass to tree clip it to tree then build the unhook the prat that is connected to the bass the n hook to bass then dell with having both with clips or try to weld it if you don't want to attempt this no hard feeling do you idea
