Many think Talons was the high point for Tom Baker, but I think The Pyramids of Mars was. The best Doc and the best companion fighting one of the greatest evils ever, can't get much better than this..Well, maybe the 10th Doc and Donna Noble freeing the Ood comes close.

Never really got the big song and dance over Tom's Doctor, and especially Sarah.🤷♂️ It's Second and Jamie anyday for me.
@captainyossarian3882 жыл бұрын
@@minicle426 The 2nd and Jamie would definitely be the number 2 pairing in my book, tied with the 10th and Donna. Tom was very eccentric in a very alien way, and he was very genuine. When he's trying to talk Greel out of activating the time machine in Talons, he just knocks it out of the park. Liz Sladen portrayed the first not-screaming-almost-all-the-time woman in Who, who was also a professional journalist. She was also dedicated to keeping the Doctor safe as Jamie was, and again was very genuine in her portrayal.

I love how the Doctor is so serious in this story as opposed to his usual humorous demeanor. Yeah I know it’s because Tom didn’t get along with the director, but his moodiness works in this story. It helps sell the fact that Sutekh is a threat of complex multiversal proportions.

I was looking for the scene where Tom's Doctor shows Sutekh this same destruction and congratulates him one becoming the master of nothing. But it wasn't on Tubi. Did it get cut? And at which point of the story did it appear in?

All what people? Sarah? She is a time traveller. She has seem people hit with Dalek weaponary at close range. That would be more horrific.
@straker4545 жыл бұрын
He didn't make those people suffer. He just showed her the suffering Sutekh would cause if he didn't stop him. It's a future that would already have happened so he wouldn't have caused anything unless he let Sutekh win. Then he would have allowed it to happen, not caused it. It's a parallel time line really, something the writers didn't really think of then but the idea was used later in Modern Doctor Who with the creation of the Cybusmen. Regardless, he still went back and stopped Sutekh, so even if it was a single timeline, who suffered if it didn't happen in the end?
@SamuelBlack843 жыл бұрын
@@straker454 Doesn't seeing the future solidify it happening regardless of changes in the past?
@straker4543 жыл бұрын
@@SamuelBlack84 Only in THAT timeline where it obviously happened anyway because the Doctor wasn't there to prevent it. That's why the Doctor called it alternative time. It's an example the writer used, quite well I feel, to show why the Doctor can't just leave when there's an obvious problem that could threaten the world. Modern writers on the other hand have no idea how to write that. That's why in Angels take Manhattan, when the Doctor spotted Rory's and Amy's graves that they died of old age and were buried in the past, he for some odd reason assumed they would live their entire lives in the past and was all sad...but really it means they could have just been buried in the past or decided to retire there. He could still go back AFTER the paradox of 1929 and see them one year later, picked them up, they lived in the future and when they retired when they were older, went to the past to live out their lives because they liked it there or maybe the Doctor buried them in the past after they died in the future. The writers just weren't as clever , lol.

@@SamuelBlack84nope you’re projecting what you think versus what the doctor is showing Sarah, a glimpse of alternate time. Plus they are in the Tardis, that insulates them from all sorts of temporal effects.
