Awesome to see this video finally in English. It's crazy the difference it does seeing it understanding what you say, when you don't understand a thing. I know you are not biased to Subaru, and is great to see a good and honest video. Subaru doesn't pretend to be perfect, but is the one that will still take you to where you wanna go, and clearly in this video we can see it does better than many others and there's no problems in general having a CVT. Look the Outlander, X-Trail and Subaru performing better than the ones with conventional auto transmission

@@SUVBattle I'd like you guys to test the new Outback!. If I'm not wrong, you have done the test of the CX-5 using traction control off, but I'd like to see a good test of the capability of the new traction assist. I'm not that sure of how much better it is. Does the new traction assist make the Mazda's SUV a capable option?. Would be also interesting to know your point about the performing of the CVT. Many people commenting on KZbin or Facebook about the CVT are crap for off road, that Subaru is losing it now in the market, and the typical one saying "Subaru, put there a dual clutch!". Where in fact not all DCT perform good in off road, and not all conventional auto are good too in off road!

I know at the start of the video the presenter said it isn't an apples for apples comparison but they used a 2013 Outlander for this test by far the oldest model here vs 2017....2018 & 2019 models and it still ranked that high I wonder how much better a similar year to the Subaru would have done.....

I would love to see how Acura RDX SH-AWD system, new 2021 or 2022 Lexus NX series, Ford Escape/Edge and GMC Terrain’s AWD system can be compared to Subaru Outback, new 2020 Toyota RAV4’s AWD. Great video comparison.... CUVs most popular vehicle segment. Most drivers may not go offroad, but almost all drivers will face various snow conditions. Should have this test every year or 2 for new CUV models... must watch for the mass population...

Note: The Mazda and the Rav4 had studded tires and none of the other vehicles had them . Looks like the Mitsubishi and Subaru had better performance over all.

Here in Brazil, they`re using a lot of jeeps Renegade and Compass (model Trailhawk diesel engineer 180Hp). I use a Subaru Forester AT 2nd generation and a Nissan Frontier/Navarra 4x4 diesel engineer MT. I really appreciate your videos.

I live in Canada, and here the Forester is regarded as the best winter car, followed closely by the Crosstrek. Forester has a full time AWD which is far superior to others. Kia, Hyundai, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota use a part time "grip and slip" Haldex system. Nissan's CVT BTW has a horrible reputation in North America. I was surprised that Mitsubishi didn't do far better....

On my mother's 2014 rav4 you need momentum to even get the awd to work right. My friend has a Mazda cx5 and he floored it and the cx5 didn't make it far as the rav4

Now this is a true test. Well done. Love this video. Way to go Subaru. Nissan and Mitsubishi looked good. Wow all the hype on Toyota Ravs and even with studded tires that looked terrible. Most other videos are subjective to Toyota on these tests. You guys did a phenomenal job better then other so called KZbin tests (won’t mention a certain Scotty and tfl😂😂)

I live in tropical country and Toyota cars have been known for reliabilty, but performance in this test showed Toyota should learn more from its subsidiarie company, that is Subaru. VW Tiguan performed well despite of its ellegant look compared to Mazda CX5 that has nice look. Thanks guys for this great video.

Really great test, but very surprised to see how this test showed a completely different result compared to the last test where the Kia and Hyundai did well but Subaru absolutely struggled. Would be cool to see a more controlled test sometime soon!

X-Mode Actually works. The Symetrical-AWD System on the CVT Equipment cars is called Active Torque Split (60/40), Turbo CVTs use Variable Torque Distribution (45/55). Theres an electronic clutch pack in the centre diff that controls front to rear axle torque split, but then an open diff in the front, and rear so the wheel with least resistance always spins. X-Mode On uses the brakes to provide resistance to the slipping wheel, and transfer more torque to the wheel with more traction like an LSD would.

It doesn't have any dif lock, it use automatic all wheel drive distribution.
