Poor busa. It was racing a m109r and carry a m109r on the seat (600lb rider). That m109r was no joke! Good pass!

Did he hit the nitrous though? Busas got everything and everyone on the top end, starting out doesn't matter when it's going to trap 150 MPH under 10 seconds just like a ZX14 and a ZX10 would. The M109R is also about 200 lbs overweight plus the rider differences.

2017 M109R - Over 80mph the M109 wakes up, especially if it's velocity air ramming. I don't use anything but a factory paper air filter though so that 80mph would be 60 mph with a pod filter. Its like a high speed power band as the air-box finally starts pressurizing the paper filter element. Place a 50mm diameter hole in the side cover's and see the results.

My 109 pulls my arms out of socket top to bottom of gear-box, but as a previous poster said the 109 should get waxed by the Hayabusa every time. I recently bought my 109 and really wish I had gone another direction. I am 60 with a lot of health problems and my legs are much weaker than they used to be. When I take the bike out it’s like taking a dragon out of it’s cage. It’s not an easy bike to ride and seems not to like going less than 80 mph. It a huge bike. Beautiful bike, but too much for me at my age...

Get a V Strom 650, upright seating, takes a passenger, 70 hp, weighs 2 or 300 lbs less than the 109, cruises great but it's styled on an adventure bike so you can ride in over curbs, metal roads, off into the country a bit...but it has street tyres unless you fit something else. Handles great, reliable as anything and cheap to buy altho the older one's hold their price well cos they're so good. They're made for panniers and stuff for longer trips if you want. But for me the wide bars and upright riding position suits my not so young body perfectly. They do a 1000 but too much power for me. It's a V Twin

Try the new Honda 1100 Rebel. I hear good things about it. I own an m109r at 52 I know how you feel. There times I like to rode a smaller cycle since I'm not going that fast, but I'm not giving it up. Might just have to buy another cycle.

The M109R can put a beating on you for sure. I ride mine max 200 miles on a single ride. Obviously, wearing jeans after a while at 80 MPH your groin muscle starts to fatigue from holding your legs against the wind. I have ridden one with the Corbin fairing and it makes a big difference. If you really like the 109 look into the fairing. In a few years I’m jumping to a Goldwing.

I guarantee that at one point in your life, YOU were TOO MUCH for that bike!!! It's ok to downsize. You're still a BADASS. A 109 is my next adventure (I'm 36, currently riding a Boulevard C-90)

Good rider is 3/4 of the equation and nitrous will make up the rest. All fairness the m109 is super quick in the cruiser world but it’s hard to understand just how stupid fast a bone stock zx1400/hyabusa really is. If you’ve never experienced a liter bike or in this case liter plus kind of power it’s impossible to understand how much difference there is between a truly fast cruiser and stupid fast super sport/hypersport . It’s like trying to explain the affects of ecstasy try all you want but you’ll never get the person asking to understand when they experience it the first time it’s going to be 1000% wilder than they ever could’ve imagined it would be. Can’t really tell but If the 109 won it was 1/8mi track and the busa was having trouble or inexperienced rider. Definitely not a common occurrence.
