I first learned a few years ago how to re-wire quads an things watching your videos in fact you gave me advise regarding a warrior 350 quad, awesome hack! Now i can fix anything Chinese, and 80% of the Japanese bikes. I just purchased a pz27 with cable choke for an olde DPX-200 Redcat. Cable choke is a must for the quad projects. Anyhoo! You need a ultrasonic cleaner. I stopped buying carb cleaner after I got mine. It'll make old carbs look like new. The only parts I ever seem to have to replace is the needle and bowl gasket. I've done a number of the CV carbs. As far as Im concerned they're no worse than the Nikkis. That is to say, if you know exactly what to do they're easy to work with. The only real issues I see is ensuring the diaphragm works, real easy to pinch those or have a sticky slide. I had a mikuni bs29 on an Ozark that I tried to fix when I was younger and dumber and never got it right. Finally after a few years I dragged it out and sure enough it was a pinched diaphragm. New diaphragm, cleaned it out, and it hauls ass now.
@HarveySpooner5 жыл бұрын
Hey pfun41!!! What do U use as a solvent in Ur ultrasonic cleaner? I like the PZ27 clone... They are cheap, easy to rebuild, and I can make anything from 90 to 300cc engines run on it.... Having said that, I have nothing against using the oem carb if it is reliable... This one has jets full of brown epoxy tar, does not look like they will come loose from the aluminum body... Given my techniques, I did not believe that a cleaning / rebuild would be successful.... Thanks for Ur thoughts, advice, watching, and commenting!!!

@@HarveySpooner Simple green and water. Trust me, soak it long enough in an ultrasonic cleaner and it will sparkle. I've had that thing clean out rust and corrosion.

Thanks for posting the retro. I picked up a 2001-02 King Quad 300 last fall and like it a lot. It's my first ATV so nothing to compare to. I am in the middle of rebuilding the carburetor, first time for that to and it will not start now. I did not pay attention to the idle screw setting and I have heard others say screw it all the way in and then back out 2-1/2 turns. Problem is I am afraid to screw it all the way in for fear of damaging the idle screw. I bought it because it came with a plow and I plowed snow with it all last winter despite people claiming you need a 500 or larger motor. It worked great! Way better than I imagined. I hear these are special with their low gearing and differential lock. I mainly used 4wd in low for plowing and only used the diff lock when I got stuck. Amazing machine but then again I have nothing to compare to. Small and easy to store. I just hope I can get it running again.

im not picking sticks here but how did you over come the intake vac for the fuel pump? What I mean @harvey spooner is these gas tanks are not gravity feed so it needs vac actuated fuel pump to syphon the gas from the tank to carb. keep the good shows coming in brutha I enjoy watching and hearing bikes starting up.

Hey T Stricklin!!! U R right, these clone carbs need to be cleaned much more frequently, especially if they fit around on an atv, outside, without an aire cleaner.... Here where I'm from there some young folks that don't know how to start a lawnmower for crying out loud.

Hey Troy, When the valve broke, did the top of the engine get hammered? I love the PZ27 clone, it seems that I can start almost any engine with it.... Scooter Lover, I have seen folks quickly tap a 9volt transistor radio type battery to the primary on a spark coil and watch the spark when removed.... On another note, with all the junk I have played with, I have yet to have a spark coil fail on me, not saying it is not possible, just saying, give my 1000+ coil experience, I have not seen it... Have only seen a few bad cdis, one got cooked on a hot exhaust, one showed up bad new, and one was in a box of parts I bought.... Have seen a few bad pulse generators... Most of them were physically damaged also.... I hope this helps.... Thanks for the info, encouragement, watching, and commenting!!!

I'm thinking this swap on a bayou is going to be coming. The cvk carb is very problematic in cold weather the diaphragm gets really hard when it gets cold especially on an older bike and causes it to run like crap and only on choke until it's fully warmed up. The rebuild kits are all from china now and made out of an even cheaper rubber that's even worse in the cold. I've got 3 cvks all clean all tried on my bike and all run like crap until the bikes warmed up. I've plowed with my bayou 300 in low range and it can push a couple feet for about 10 feet then the wheels spin then you have to back off and hit it again. I'm sure the king quad would plow a little bit better being heavier, having a better gear selection and a front locker.

Hi Nesty, Now that it is running, U are 1/2 way there!!! Hey twintwo, Perhaps I was not clear in my video and for that I am sorry, but, my experience is that the body of cheap after market carbs is made of a lower grade aluminum or is not polished as well as most oem carbs... That lack of finish and or lower quality aluminum makes them more prone to corrosion and they seem to need cleanings more frequently than the OEM stuff.... I probably use 20 to 30 knock off carbs per year, I like the pz27 and pz30 knockoffs, I don't like the Mikuni carbs, oem or clone.... Seems that the PZxx series is reliable, easy to rebuild, cheap, and easy to get... Thanks for Ur thoughts, feedback, watching, and commenting!!!
