Best bang for buck bike in the parking lot! Light but strong, small but powerful, pretty but aggressive looking, as good a sound as a Duke, gobs of torque, can be ridden easily within suburban speed limits, equally as easy on a fast winding road, insanely comfortable (except for the crappy stock seat, which is easily remedied).....what more is there to say....just stick on a Yoshi pipe & enjoy the ride, coz they don't come much better.....well certainly not for the little outlay. I. love. my SV!

Love my SV full faired looks like a sport bike but with a full exhaust, that somewhat convuses some people. with a good aftermarket header and pipe, she sounds deep and mean. Glad I bought it.

i got it for my first bike, im similar build to you and i absolutely love it, so easy to ride, i rode it from the dealers and within 5 minutes i was throwing it round country roads, highly recommend it to anybody, also turned out to be the cheapest to insure over other bikes

I have a 2005 sv650 sport model and its awesome. Its my first bike and I see no issues with it being a starter bike. Suspension in the front does blow, my seals are shot and leak everywhere so I have to replace them soon. But if suzuki comes out with a revamped model I would definately be interested in upgrading. I don't want a no torque high rev 4 cyl gsxr that you can't have fun with until your breaking the law. The sv has power and torque through all revs and its great

I've had 08 SV650S since September of 2010 and I still absolutely love the bike. I upgraded the rear with a ZX-14R shock. Soon I'll put heavier springs and oil in the front. I'm 6'2 and weigh 180 lbs. real sporty bike, love the torque, and get almost 60 mpg with country/highway riding.

I have an 05' SV650S I'm 6'3" 235 lbs. and I bought mine new in stock form. I have 32k miles. Only upgrades, very recently. Sonic springs 0.95, 20w oil in front forks, installed a used 08' ZX14 rear shock, total cost ($185) set at semi stiff setting (485lb rider\baggage weight) my girl weighs 125lbs. What a freaking diff. I want to try to get to "The Dragons Tail" soon again with this setting. 3 times with stock set up. Last time was a worn out stock system. I love my SV now.

I bought a 2010 model new, sounded like a sewing machine so I fitted a Delkovic and it made for a big difference as well as nice song. Thing wheelstands in first 3 gears under power. Not big about the fuel injection on/off feeling when trying to roll the throttle. I had a 1999 model with carbs and it was superb.

Heavier springs for your weight and 20w oil remedies that for cheap! And a ZX-10 rear shock remedies the non-adjustable rear.

I've put 40k miles on a 06 Sv650s. Very forgiving bike, solid drive train. great mpg. drop it in 2nd rolling up to red to green and you may feel the blood leave your head. awesome around corners. only problem Ive had is the weak metal on the clutch adjuster on the handle. both times i dropped it, it broke and bent those little pieces. ended up throwing 5 steel washers in its place! long rides your back is gonna suffer, and your junk as you fall into the gas tank with stock seat.

Anyway stop messing around on those bends, you can just chuck these things down on your elbows in the wink of an eye they are that light. They wont win a drag race but they are great fun for really squirting out of roundabouts etc lent over with the generous amounts of torque you get from a V twin, You could actually use full throttle in second and 3rd off bends and the rear will stay well planted. Very underrated bike and cheap cheap cheap compared with full on sports bikes.

You've probably bought I bike by now, but I got a 2009 SV650S as my first bike last year. I'm 6'2'' and about 250lbs, and I absolutely love it. Great bike. It's easy and fun to ride. I was worried about getting an "underpowered" bike for my side, so I went for it. I can't see ever needing anything faster. I love the black 2012 GSXR1000, though...

A friend of mine is 6'2" as well, and he says he fits it and would like to buy one given the chance. But don't take my word for it, go try and sit on one. There is plenty of power to get you up to 120-130 quite quickly.

Nearly 39,000 daily ridden miles on my 2008.. you won't find a more willing motor, even in its age. I know there's another 39k in there.. I'd buy another new one if Suzuki pulled their heads out their asses and sold it here again. Bad enough part of the American team begged them not to pull it, or name the Gladius.. the Gladius. Whoever is in charge of managing Suzuki's middleweight bikes needs to be fired. They had a great thing with the SV, they dropped it for a piss poor replacement, and here in the States, you can't buy EITHER. Yamaha and Kawasaki have complete dominance in the "practical" ~600cc middleweight class now. Suzuki needs to bring back a "refreshed" SV with better suspension for 2013. In America, unless you want a supersport/superbike, you have the choice between the TU250 or a 1250 Bandit. Ridiculous.

Sv650 Slow bike Cheap to insure Sounds good with any pipe Easy and cheap to fix It's a real riders bike. A "wife" if you will. Certainly not gonna impress anyone with looks or performance but will always be there when u want a good romp. 😄
@quenguin21788 жыл бұрын
+TheSaneRider It is what it is, Cheap to buy, cheap to insure. It's quick enough for most. It's not going to impress a superbike rider but a superbike rider is not going to buy a Suzuki SV650 for performance. I love my SV650, it has done me 9 years without a problem apart from the usual serviceable parts (Tires, Chain+sprockets, Brake pads ect). You summed it up pretty well. for me I went from a Yamaha SR125 and I found the SV very easy to tame once you get going
