Very interesting and great video, I really wonder how effective the charts are now with global warming and the very unusual weather were experiencing around the world.
@svdelos8 жыл бұрын
You make a very good point, I do think the trends in general matched the Pilot Charts. For example the monsoon switched right when it should have during our passage as we sailed south out of the Northern Indian ocean. It will be interesting to see if the swings become more pronounced however as time goes on. It's a real concern what's going on with the planet :(

Hi, there. My wife loves your videos and has a question. Compared to other sailing videos, you guys seem to run a really tidy vessel when underway. Sure, there's the normal messes when cooking and doing repairs, but she's really impressed. Her question is this: How much time do you spend keeping the boat in bristol condition? And how do you keep it organized?
@svdelos8 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! With so many people onboard in a small space it can get messy in a hurry! So we have a few rules :) Everyone everyday has to put away their personal things. Clothes, laptops, phones, books, etc. This really helps keep clutter down. We have an assigned cooking schedule and it rotates everyday. The rule is if you are cooking that day you are responsible for dishes that day as well, so there is no deciding who's responsibility cleaning up after lunch and dinner is. Most importantly like the cooking schedule we have a cleaning schedule that rotates weekly. Each Monday we take the morning to clean and have tasks assigned like clean the cockpit, galley, vacuum, salon, heads, etc. One week your on heads and next on galley so it changes it up a little bit and we try to have a little fun during that time. Seems to work pretty good for us. Hope this answers your questions! Fair Winds- Brian

So, please tell us, did the conditions and route work out as planned? We'e the winds and currents as predicted???
@svdelos8 жыл бұрын
Hey Barry, yes actually the overall patterns of the Pilot Charts were pretty spot on for this passage. The monsoon actually switched during our sail right when it was predicted to and we picked up the SE trades a bit further north even. Of course the winds and currents varied a bit but overall they did follow the patterns as suggested by the pilot charts. Fair Winds! Brian

What happens when tsunami happens on the sea?
@tommuhlemanjr.38718 жыл бұрын
Nothing, Tsunami's are very long period but low height waves. At sea, you would not even know if a tsunami wave went by (under) you. It is only close to land and much shallower water when all that water in those long waves begins to pile up into bigger, more destructive waves. And they only happen after large specific types of earthquakes.
@svdelos8 жыл бұрын
Yeah Tom is correct, if you are in deep water you will not even notice. There was one in Mexico when we were there and we got the alert and sailed out to deeper water. Didn't even notice a ripple in 50 meters of water, but when we returned to the beach could see where the 2m wave had washed ashore. It was a small one but still pretty crazy. Fair Winds! Brian
