Both moonshining and boat fixing in one video. Sweet! Impressive that people carry vacuum pumps, gauge manifolds and spare refrigerant aboard - wise choice when regarding all the air-con and fridges and freezers aboard modern cruising yachts. Great to have a neighbour such as Jerry to help one out in a pinch, his freezer troubleshooting brought back memories from when I worked with that stuff. Just feeling the temp on the pipes, on the condenser and evaporator can tell a lot when one understand how a refrigeration system work. Good Vid ! Brian , i Thought You were a Expert on Refrigeration systems thats why i have never said anything over the Many years of Watching. Except once. Ive been doing those adler barbours since 1990. Dana Point , California. A Few tips: i will drop a few tips from time to time. 1) Allways carry a Spare Danfoss control module on Board. They are the Most common items that fail on those units. Very easy for You to change out. 2) When it Gets hot out The Refrigeration problems will show themselves. 3) Brian , an easy way to know if those systems are Full of refrigerant is Put your hand on the suction line going to the compressor ( larger cold line coming from evaporator to compressor ) It should be beer can cold 🥶 within 1-6” from compressor body. Also check evaporator periodically , set unit to run / down in temperature and entire evaporator plate should be frosty if only part of the evaporator is covered by a thin layer of frost You are Low onnRefrigerant. Add small amounts of refrigerant until entire plate has a small layer of frost on it. 4) You MUST be able to see daylight through the Condenser / Radiator thing with a Fan on it. Clean it Regularly. Its what keeps the compressor from seizing up. Blow it backwards & forewards with air from a scuba tank. 5) Wash Condenser with Hot Water & brush & simple green once a Year. Turn unit off of course before doing so. 6) if All Paint is coming off evaporators and bare aluminum is showing systems are due to be replaced. 7) a Whole adler barbour system is Cheap relatively speaking and you can install it Yourself. 8) i Would Recommend adding a Second system to Both Freezers if your going to be in the tropics. Those freezers are Huge for 1 adler barbour to handle by itself in the tropics. 9) i Would Recommend Putting a Verticle straight line evaporator down the center of that freezer for Better Cooling transfer. Glad u Found a Guy with guages and a few cans of 134a or R-12. Oc.

I have heard that the new auto refrigerant is flammable/explosive while the old ones are inert. is this true and if so are they safe for boats. are r-12/134a due to be phased out?
@franksantos46804 жыл бұрын
Good tips good look out sir . True !!!!! But you should never have to recharge refrigerant R12 - 134A in the system if you don’t have a leak anywhere even a cap with no oring could cause a leak . And I find it easier to catch the dust from flying all over , is to wet A rag and put it behind the condenser coil opposite side when you’re blowing out the coil and while you’re at it not bad to just clean the fan blades on the condenser fan to ya . Stay safe and stay healthy my friends ❤️🙏🏽❤️ !!!!!!! Kiss / hugs lido nugget she’s like a little mermaid growing up at sea

The key issue for flammable gas on a boat is that if it is heavier than air it will collect in the bilges. (Unlike, say, farts...) Based on a quick search, R-22a is both flammable and heavier than air.

Brian and Karin, As you found out cooling systems take super special tools and knowledge. It is a delicate task even with the right tools and experience as I have found out the hard way. My reason to say hello is about " Nugget " she is very special and soon will be steeling the show. Not only is she adorable but she is very aware of her live abroad surroundings. In the coming months and years we [ your viewers ] will be so privileged to see her develop as she explores her home and oceanic world. I look forward to watching you grow as a family and hope to cross paths at some point in the future. As I mentioned before one of my daughters acquired Covid - 19 at college. The students at Chico State are just NOT stressing over the virus and do not believe it is overly dangerous. So far they have been accurate as I know of no cases that have been serious there. The kids get it, feel lousy for a couple of days, then move on as if nothing had happened. I believe that many more people have already had the virus than have been accounted for by government testing. If this is the case then the virus is not as dangerous as reported as most acquiring it go undetected.

In other words, it's worth the space? Or uncommon so only if space?

@@TheExpeditionFamily Sorry for late reply, working night shifts currently... a small one is very handy, and can be bought to also provide pressure if you're willing to spend $300+ or a cheap model can be less than $50. It really depends on application. The one shown in video is an industrial HVAC repairman's tool. But in those circumstances, it was priceless to have or their investment in food was going to be spoiled. For HVAC you need enough vacuum to boil off anything in pump, particularly moisture, to at least 500 micron, up to 1000 preferably... But considering multiple uses for vacuum packaging clothes, food, oil changes, fiberglassing or epoxyy repairs....I'd want one if I was going to be far away from repair facilities. The repair fairy saved their food, and saved them a significant bill from a repairman. More than enough to pay for the tools that you can easily learn to use from KZbin !

Yeah, I kept the first fridge we bought in our first year of marriage running by doing the same for 19 years, finally broke down and got a new fridge last year, and still paying it off. A few years ago we were taking a camping trip and stopped at a store 2 hours from home and our SUV'S starter went out. After figuring out the problem, I looked at my wife through the window and told her to hand me a short section of speaker wire, we happened to have lying on the floor, an umbrella, and the tire iron from the tire changing kit. After the really funny looks from everyone in the truck, she handed me the items, within a minute I had the truck running again. Since that day, my entire family and the 2 boys riding with us call me MacGyver because of it, lol.

Life is change, man. Calling their wedding 'shotgun' is ignorant if you've watched the pas SEVEN years of them together. There are plenty of "party cruiser" channels out there. Maybe you'd prefer them.

@@jjnelsonnc Lol wtf are you even talking about. Ousted? You act like they've been on the boat for 10 years straight (there were many, many 3-6 month diversions). Brady probably has a captains license, which gives him unlimited options of the water. In the worst case he walks away with that and an incredible adventure. What, you think he needs a pension? That being said, can't you understand how a man and his wife would want some quality bonding time with their child? Do you realize Delos is a business, and even if Brady isn't on it, I can almost guarantee he's working on videos or other stuff. Whatever, some people can only find the one cloud on a sunny day. Wait for Delos 2.0 ...
